he's only had one bad game. a lot has to do that he doesn't worry about distance as much as you think. he directional punts a to out of bounds, which can hurt the overall average put the punt is not returned. they concetrate on that alot. He will be drafted high because of that ability alone. Most punters cannot do this. He learned that playing australain rules.

Honestly, BW is having a good year as a punter. He is however having a mediocre to bad year as Brad "The Australian Boot" Wing. What's worse is those poorer moments have come at inoppurtune moments and are highlighted by a flailing offense.

The inside the 20 is due to missing tm7 and Ron brooks. That is simple to see.

It doesn't help. That's for sure!

The inside the 20's were inside the 10 last year. Now not so much. Agreed that he's not having a bad year tho.

Do you remember Chad Kessler? His yards per punt one season made Brad Wing look like a middle school punter. He may hold the LSU single season average. Kessler kicked everything through the back of the end zone no matter where he was on the field. He had no directional punting at all. Last year Wing could boom the ball like Kessler if needed but his ability to directional punt made him even more special. Wing's directional punting has not been great this year. Wing is having no where the year he did last year and I bet he would admit that.

Wing's year last year nor this year can be judged on avg yds per punt.

Last year Wing in some games changed field position so dramatically it affected the momentum for LSU.

This year he just has not. Does not mean it's a bad year, but don't post numbers without context. Stats are meaningless.

I think it's do to the fact that last year he put like 10 punts inside the 2...

Ehidal1, i had been wondering what that stay looked like... Good info, and i agree, that's the biggest difference. That is a huge numbers advantage to pin opposing offenses so deep so often.

There are more stats listed than that. He has more touchbacks and less inside the 20, but the numbers are still pretty solid. He's had 2 pretty badly shanked punts that stick out, but otherwise is still a stud punter.

We do miss Mathieu and Brooks on coverage for sure. Also, Wing doesn't seem to have the backspin as much as last year.

Correct, last year's balls would bounce backwards or to the side. This year, they just spring forward into the endzone.

Doesn't matter what he does this year, he is still the only punter to have a TD called back for taunting.

FACT

last year he pinned the opponent inside the 10 and usually inside the 5 routinely and he hung it up high to give up no return yards

this year he punts it into the endzone, then the next time he overcompensates for that and punts it 25 yards to the 25 yard line, then he punts it 9 yards, then he gets mad because of the 9 yarder and punts a 60 yard line drive to boost his average and we give up a 70 yard return

Find a hang time stat, and that may tell the real story of this year (in addition to the inside the 20 column).

Bama punter does not punt enough to qualify for NCAA stats, but his 41.7 yd. average would be 50th in the country, and 10th in the SEC.

He does not seem to have the same ability he had last year in getting the ball to stop on a dime. We are not getting nearly the number of punts downed inside the 20 we did last year.

He just has a touch of the Justin Vincent Syndrome.
