My worse fear is that LSU is broken..

The state is broke. It's bankrupt morally, academically, and financially. It's leadership is grossly under qualified. Has been for years. It's not an educated state or known for great standard of living. That matters in the 21st century.
I see states like Colorado and Washington, even Michigan, investing and succeeding in football. That's the future. Not Louisiana ans Mississippi. Even Georgia and Florida have slid mightily.
I hope I'm wrong because once you fail below a certain level, it can be generations to recover.

Can't be broke. The state is rolling in dough after John Bel raised an extra 2 BILLION this year

The South produces the most NFL talent in the nation with Mississippi and Louisiana leading the way. We will be fine as long as we get our recruits in and O excels at that. No one is beating Saban, though.

Never mind, I hope you are just talking about academics. Athletics is fine.

It's not broke. I am actually somewhat happy they didn't let two coaches who may not even be that great extort them.

You are right. The South overall is in a major decline, in my opinion.

Dude, these players don't give a shite about that. Most players don't want to freeze their arse off playing in boring atmospheres. You can't beat the atmosphere in the South when it comes to football.

lol...
"Even Michigan"?
You do know that MI has produced some rather decent teams in the past, right?

We have one of the wealthiest Athletic Departments in the sport.

Colorado just sold out their first home game in four years.
Washington isn't even the top football draw in their own home town.
Conflating college football performance with the overall state of the economy is the epitome of foolishness.

LSU football doesn't live in a vacuum. When LSU declines, the vacuum is filled elsewhere.
Florida's coach, who beat us at home, came from CSU. They are constructing a new stadium. Colorado is making a comeback.
As for Michigan, sure they have great tradition, but that faded until Harbaugh came back. The SEC is declining in basketball and football. And if you point to Bama, you make my point.

We went from Curley to national champs in less than a decade.
And the program was real shite back then.

What in the hell are you talking about? Are you broke? I'm not and I live in LA. The athletics department gives millions to the school every year. That's how broke they are.. Stop making yourself look bad.

The state is bankrupt in many ways. LSU isn't on an island. It will eventually succumb. There is a reason Mississippi schools suck in sports. We're right behind them, I'm afraid. Quality of life makes a difference to these coaches. And the denial I see, only makes it obvious how it occurs to begin with.
