I can no longer yell like I could in the 90s and early 2000s.

If it's baseball, my voice is done by the fifth inning.

If it's football, I get hoarse late in the second quarter. I can get a second wind after a halftime water break, but that usually fades midway through the third quarter.

I used to have leather lungs, yelling so loud that I would get dirty looks from yelling on every defensive down in Gate 8/9, Section 15, Row L (90s/early 2000s) of the North End Zone and maybe I would start to lose my voice a little towards the end of the fourth quarter, but I could maintain it for the most part after a drink of water.

Is anyone else having this problem? I'm not going to start a lawsuit (lol), just wondering what everyone else's experience is when it comes to yelling as a fan and voice box problems.

Trolleo, Trolleo, wherefore art thou Trolleo....

Though since the thread has turned out to be serious...thank you for your service and yelling. I wish more fans had that mentality. It used to be that way, but not any more.

I just don't yell at things I can't control.

My biggest problems came when I would yell for the Tigers on Saturday nights and then for the Saints on Sunday afternoons. Some Monday mornings, I couldn't speak loud enough to answer my phone.

Love it St. Jean.

I find that a Sprite (with maybe a touch of whiskey) about 3/4 of the way through whatever game I'm at helps me sustain what I can muster for the 4th Quarter.

Thank you for your service as a true Tiger fan. We always need more yellers, less tweeters.

kinda sounds like you need to see a doctor twice a year to make sure you're not developing throat cancer

that's not a joke.

Man can you imagine how intimidating and memorable Tiger Stadium would be if we had 100K of you in it?

I don't yell when the crowd isn't yelling to avoid an accidental voice crack in front of my section and I have to sell my seats for the rest of the season.

I don't think I've left a non-blowout football game with my voice in the 30 years I've been going to Tiger Stadium. But baseball and basketball, dude? I think you're doing it wrong.

I gotcha. I can't yell like I could in the 80s. When I go to games I restrain myself or my voice is quickly wrecked.

same thing happened to me. I can't make it through a rent-a-win game without being hoarse the next day anymore.

I've noticed it too. I try to save my voice when it's a cheer for something good. I save it for when the team is wanting crowd noise to pump them up.

Y'all do know that just a sustained ohhhhhh at a moderate level from thousands of people is just as loud as hollering at the top of your lungs for a few minutes right? The trick is sustained noise at key times.
