Where is the cohesive coaching to win at college football?

It is a questionable staff because there is a lot of flash and excitement and entertainment and they will get people to look at them. But, it reminds me of hotshot staffs put together at Tennessee or Ole Miss or Auburn where there is a lot of energy and top kids are recruited, but the results on the field are meh. Those were programs in serious trouble who needed to make a splash. Maybe that is where LSU is. But, those types of programs often do not win championships.
^^^ Nearly incomprehensible and completely contradictory.

After his one year with the Saints coaching DL, the response was that he was not that good - and that came from within the Saints.

Apparently, some within the organization felt Orgeron was more focused on his coaching future than his current job, and Payton grew tired of Orgeron juggling phone calls from LSU and Tennessee. The source also suggested that Payton was not very pleased with the progress of the defensive line under Orgeron even before the LSU-Tennessee tug-of-war began, and he is looking forward to the opportunity to bring in a veteran defensive line coach with NFL experience.

I agree to a certain extent. Coach O + a great mind could have been a better combination. But we don't have a great mind at the top and he doesn't know it. He just isn't. Our AD should have insisted on a great coaching mind for the coordinator position. But it is what it is. Get behind the new hires and hope for the best.

Well, Sean Payton sucks at analyzing defensive hires

would have been ecstatic with Shoop+Ogre. There were several combos with Ogre that would have been home runs. Who knows how Steele will be...it's a risky hire and I'm surprised and disappointed. It was either a money thing or a contract thing IMO.
Yes. That would have been perfect. Substance and flash mixed together.
I have always seen Steele as a joke. Orgeron is good at some things - very good - but we are putting our eggs in the recruiting basket. Good, but not championship level.
The Sunshine Pumpers are out in full force, I see. Predictable.

While I stated it in a funny manner, I'm actually dead fricking serious. At this point I don't give a royal frick what is making everyone unhappy. I'm just tired of it permeating the entire board daily.
So I'm serious in that I propose a few threads that can even be stickied with the sole purpose of giving those with issues to be able to post unfettered by optimism.
Seems it would be a win-win.

That is exactly my point.
I am behind the team. I just think that the Steele/Orgeron combination will reel in great players with mixed results on the field.

My Opinion: Not Happy About This Staff
You're one of the bigger pussies on this site though, so I can assure you that there are very few (if any) people that give any fricks about what you think. Furthermore, I can also assure you most people won't even read whatever stupid shite you posted.

Yeah, that's funny, because I have been mostly positive about Miles and LSU football and only even started being the least bit critical this past season.
Even in that, I am trying to look at the big picture.
So, either say everything is great with whatever the consensus opinion is at any given moment, or give a different view once in a while and then you are a pussy.
Typical.
Ah, just looked at your post history a little. You call everyone that you disagree with an idiot, moron, stupid, whatever. The thing about vaginal discharge was poetic, though.
You might not care what I think, but I promise you, I do not care at all what you think. You hate everyone.

different view? did you see this board last night and this morning before the O hire was announced?
everything you typed is just pure speculation
how anyone can be happy or unhappy about this staff without seeing the product is pretty retarded

That is all that anyone is doing.
They have all been coaches in the SEC for years. I know who they are. It is an opinion based on what we know.
Why are people ecstatic? Same basis.
I am happy for the recruiting angle. I just think that we need more on gameday and in preparation.

So, apparently people were able to bash Miles, Alleva, and everyone after the Steele hire incessantly, but once O is hired we can ONLY be positive and not have a different opinion?
O is the one who requires lockstep praise in all aspects? Really?
Call this place TigerFans then.
This is stupid.

I don't think LSU necessarily disagrees, given the initial pursuit of Pendergast and Shoop.
But it didn't happen. and Patterson, Saban and Belichick weren't coming.
Given those circumstances I think they did well.
At the end of the day (and in 2 years)
You're looking at a Miles led team with 12 - 5 star recruits.
Instead of a Miles led team with 5 - 5 star recruits.
We've always accused Miles of losing in spite of talent, so it stands to reason that more talent equals less losses.
I'm on board.

Coming from a guy that thinks Bill Johnson is better? Orgeron was definitely distracted but that doenst mean he wasn't a good coach. I would certainly rather him over Johnson.

Where is the coaching excellence? Vision? Plan? Stability? Steele is a great recruiter and terrible DC. Orgeron is a great recruiter but has never been a great coach. At a school like LSU, isn't it better to provide great coaching? Les believes that great recruiting will get us over the top. Now we know why he was passing on great DCs - they were not great recruiters
Without looking it up, please name me the DC for Georgia, Florida, Arkansas, Ole Miss, Ohio State, Michigan State, TCU, Clemson, Stanford, Wisconsin.
These teams all had top 20 defenses this past year. I bet you can't name more than 2 or 3. Point being, there are very few "big name" DCs out there to begin with.
We got a guy that Lord Saban saw fit to hire twice. A guy many believed was poised to be the next DC at Bama once Smart takes a head coaching gig. A guy who can recruit with the best of them. How about we give him a game or two before we criticize.

Yes. Most of the people here are incredibly stupid. Has nothing to do with whether or not they share the same point of view as I do. I couldn't care less about that. It's just the fact that most people on the Rant are incredibly stupid.
Kind of like you saying you aren't happy with this staff even though you don't have the SLIGHTEST clue what the hell you are talking about in terms of an individual's ability to coach a college defense.

AFTER looking at your post history, I decided I don't care what you think about me. You are bitter at everyone who disagrees with you and you gripe and gripe like a sad little old man. I should have spelled it out for you, I guess.
