@jeffborzello: Appears LSU assistant Eric Musselman is the most popular name circulating for San Diego. USD alum, has coached at a variety of levels.

Yea I felt like Musselman would have other opportunities after a year at LSU. I think he will get looks from USD and possibly Alabama as well. I'm sure others will come looking as well.

Journeyman coach, was going to be short term at LSU anyway

Doubt Bama goes after an assistant at this point

It all depends on if he thinks he can land a bigger gig than USD. I can't imagine Alabama not going after Steve Prohm at Murray St. (Alabama grad). That is, unless they think the SEC would be oversaturated with former Murray St. coaches (B. Kennedy and Tyndall)

Musselman has been a useless commodity to this team bc of JJ

I feel like Musselman's impact was smaller than it should have been this year. Still felt like the same team with more experience than last year (and a little more talent).

Maybe JJ should just go full out recruiting and get another recruiter hire.

Wondering if Musselman is the coach in charge of in bounds plays?

I agreed strongly with these last two posts. Musselman had some solid basketball experience and was greatly underutilized.

JJ could have done much better in drawing upon Musselman's X's and O's ability, since this is certainly far from his strength.

Meh.. I've not been impressed with him if I am correct in that he was brought in to be an in game coach and defensive coordination specialist.

Maybe I'm missing something.

We will never truly know why he wasn't as effective as we expected, but I remember being very excited about the hire. If the rumors are true, I think he absolutely takes the job.

You seem to be certain that Musselman is not contributing only because of JJ. Why are you you so certain?

Perhaps what you see is what you get.

People who blame JJ for intangible elements use code words that are dog whistles for their ilk.

We need to make sure that some narratives do not take hold. If we don't, we'll be forever behind the perception curve.

What did you expect Musselman to do? Is your expectation based on your JJ prejudice or Musselamn's resume?

Win! Win! for everyone concerned.

Musselman takes San Diego job and brings Johnny Jones as assistant!

Bam!

I hope no one claims responsibility for this. It is the only explanation.

IDK, I wasn't in the huddles, but Musselman was, and he usually had a lot to say to players coming out of the game and during time outs. Again, I don't know, they might have been talking about the weather, or their favorite color.
