This is so true. Combined with that, the fact that these are 19-23 year old kids.

I live in a town in south Carolina that rolls up the sidewalk at dusk. I'm also searching for the exclusive Mulkeyman to jerk his chains.

Argument could be made it was worst back in the day. Most of your criticism came from people in your everyday life.

I think that's much easier for us Gen X folks to do because we spent half our lives without it but to the younger generations it's like taking an arm.

Most of the posters in this thread are just coming right out and saying they're the negative arse people Kim's referring to, refreshing to see people on tRant be this honest. HVL will be a monster come tourney time. When we repeat, I wonder what all the negative people will have to bitch and complain about.

Kim Mulkey is a Hall of Fame Coach. This is not her first rodeo. LSU Women Basketball is in good hands. As for Haily - who say white girls can't jump? You're a winner.

Geaux Tigahs!

How far back is “back in the day”? The athletes were pretty sheltered 30-50 years ago. They could get into trouble and nobody heard about it because campus police or BRPD covered it. I recall bar fights and nothing ever coming out. With that, the pressure on African American athletes was MUCH different in the 70’s.

I mean you have to forgive him. It's the only sport they're consistently relevant in.

She is still playing PG much of the time. I'm sure she would rather play off guard but she fills a need.
Glad she is on the team.

To be fair..there probably wouldn’t have been negative stuff said if she didn’t try to play her at PG. that was on KM.

HVL came to LSU to learn to play PG.

I’m not sure why people act like HVL was blindsided by this move. It was a mutual decision to move HVL to point guard before she agreed to transfer to LSU.

I think most people who are watching WBB now don’t really follow it other than games. HVL wanted to learn PG to better prepare for WNBA. She wouldn’t be at LSU unless she was given this opportunity. She’s on a hard learning curve and will either get it or not. CKM is having to balance coaching a good player on a new position with team wins but it’s not like there’s a better PG sitting behind HVL.

I think that the emphasis on the point guard is sometimes too much. If you have good team passing and unselfishness, then the role of the point guard is diminished. For instance, the great Celtic team of Larry Bird had Danny Ainge and Dennis Johnson at guard, neither of whom was actually a point guard. Bird had more assists than either of them.
Keep the ball moving with crisp passes and almost always someone will get open. HLV does better in the wings than she does at the point. So even if she dribbles the ball up, let her go to the wing and perhaps get a return pass and put up her shot if it is there.
