Rebuilding? We have 4 juniors as seniors starting this year.

You realize all of these guys (save Coleman) were brought in under the previous regime right? Who's to say these guys aren't fully buying into the system? They sure as hell look lazier on the road than they do at home

So! All of the 2007 LSU football squad was brought in by another coach. Much of the 2009 LSU baseball team was brought in by another coach.

These starters brought in by another coach were named first team All-SEC and first team defensive SEC team just last year under the same coach.

This team has 2 five stars, a post player that for the last month has been ranked as one of the top 20 or so freshman NBA draft prospects. We have experience. The team is just flat out underperforming. No excuses!!!!

I was hoping this year would be a momentum type of year to start the rebranding of LSU basketball, instead the effort given on the road has given the new fans it was beginning to bring in a reason to be apathetic once again. With baseball starting soon and this team stumbling, its back to the back pages they go.

Oh well.

I was saying that meaning if they don't buy in to CJJ and play lazily (which lets be honest, the entire team seems to do on the road) then that would explain a whole lot. The problem I see is this team has next to zero leadership (JOBIII is not a leader),

He's had this team for two years. It's his team. If they aren't buying into him, then he needs to find an approach that works.

How long does it take to "buy in" to a program? In today's college basketball, if the player is really that good, like we are supposed to have had this year, and we are supposed to have next year, then they are only on campus for one year anyway.

Ita amazing how one win against Kentucky and people think this is a good team. Forget the 4 losses to bad teams. Imagine if we lose to Kentucky, how bad we wpuld appear.

LSU is not a "good team struggling with inconsistent play". We are a below average team that got lucky vs Kentucky at home.

LSU is not a basketball school. Everyone outside of a dumb % of the fan base realize the task it is to win at LSU.

WHy not? Get a decent coach and we are.
Arkansas became a basketball school when they hired Richardson. Tennessee with Pearl, Florida with Donovan.

We have the in state athletes, the facilities and the money to be a basketball school. We even have the fan base to be basketball school.
We support teams that win. Football and baseball win. the crowd reflects that. we dont' win in basketball, the crowd reflects that. start winning, and they will come.
The year the 5 baton rouge kids took us to the Final Four, we had good crowds at the PMAC.
what we don't have is the coach to be a basketball school, and we haven't had one since daddy dale left.

I expected them to beat inferior teams like 11-14 Rhode Island, 10-14 Alabama, 13-10 UGA, and A&M who just lost 6 of its last 7 games. Ole Miss isn't a terrible team, but LSU straight up squandered that one too in mind boggling fashion.

It's not just the losses. It's how they lose with pathetic effort.

These mentioned losses are the difference between 20-3 (10-1), and 15-8 (6-5).

True! and don't forget how much 'rebuilding' had to take place to get to 2006.

there is a chance, but so far, no dice. The teams lack of effort and fundamentals are squarely on his shoulders in my opinion. He still should be given the chance to prove he can get it done but it shouldn't be more than another year maybe 2. If the team continues to struggle like this through next year, I'd say it was a failed experiment.

The expectation was 9-12 seed. We aren't even in the field.

And the sec sucks this year.

According to some, we've been rebuilding for 10 years. It's the same mantra that is quoted year after year. In college hoops teams can recruit and turn a program around quickly. It's the dynamics of the sport. This team is woefully underperforming presently. It's just the way it is. So if one or more guys leave this year, we're automatically "rebuilding" again? Won't cut it in the modern era of NCAA basketball.

They undoubtedly have a lot of talent. JOBIII, Martin, Mickey, Stringer, Hickey, Quarterman.

CJJ just needs to get them to gel; they're still green yet.

Hopefully everyone comes back next year.....

While a team can turn around quickly in college basketball, it may take several years to establish a program. CJJ's UNT record illustrates this. After a few disappointing seasons, the UNT program enjoyed consistent winners after that point.

This season has been a disappointment, I don't think it's really fair to compare the present LSU program to Calipari's established Kentucky program.
