Clm is one of three coaches to bring this program a national title and our own fans treat him like yesterdays garbage .....

What Virginia tech did for Frank Beamer before their game today was a class act and the way clm deserves to be treated ....

You are proving the point.

Eta: that's not me saying that you are horrible, just that VT never had the success LSU has had under Miles, yet they still did something very classy and shows their respect for him and what he's done for the program. LSU fans wouldn't have it in them to do the same.

Frank Beamer announced his retirement at the end of the season. Les would get the same thanks from the fans and university if he decides to step down this year or 10 years from now. Nobody is arguing what the man has done in his time here, it's the future we are looking to.

But now that you mention it, I would be happy to give him a standing ovation next week.

Who is treating him like garbage?

Why are we settling for this?

He didn't build it, he maintained.. LSU can maintain post Miles just as they did post Saban

LSU has proven this already.. You don't want to wait too long before the program really goes on a decline..

the situation is different. there are damn few schools in this country that would have put up with Beamer the last decade or so. he was their bobby Bowden. the school had NEVER been relevant before him.

and, LSU fans are considerably more passionate than VT fans as a whole. you can't even compare the expectations of the fan bases.

having said that, LSU should honor Les Miles if he steps down. he has been damn stellar as the leader of our program.

I agree that the treatment Les is receiving from fans is beneath contempt.

For one thing, this conversation should've waited until after the end of the year.

Secondly, you can replace the coach without shitting all over him and completely trashing him.

So what you're saying is, we should continue to let the program slide into mediocrity until our HC finally decides he's ready to call it quits? Damn the next 10 years! Who cares about success? We won a bit for a few years there!

Class act for a coach that never won anything. Les created a culture of winning and sadly enough the culture he created will be the reason he is let go. Les will be honored by LSU and its fans, he will have something named after him. He may even get a statue one day. We are not asking for him to be thrown out like garbage. The respect he deserves will be given to him.

I see your point, but the way you see Virginia Tech....you see them as a team that expects mediocrity. You're ok with them landing a mediocre bowl every year. And apparently their fans are ok with it too.

I, as an LSU fan, am not ok with losing 2-3 games every year.

Why don't you people get it. LSU is a program that belongs in the national title hunt every year at the end of the season. The past four years have seen us eliminated in the same week at the beginning of November.

Classy is a word that has never been applied to LSU fans.

No, that's not at all what I'm saying. First, the fans can like a coach and respect him and that alone wouldn't save his job. It's how you conduct yourself when your behavior has no effect on the outcome. It's how feelings are communicated. It's how the situation is handled by those who have the power to change things. It's been a shite show at LSU. It's embarrassing. There is no justification. Responses to this post will indicate that people believe acting like trashy children does something of note beyond giving others the perception that you're a trashy child.

That's what I don't understand.

People are so afraid a new regime will lose.. but LSU was already established with Saban.. LSU won a national championship with Saban..

He left..

Miles came in to a tremendously talented program and won a NC within 3 years..

LSU has proven they can win on talent.. LSU would be fine post Miles just as they were post-Saban.

Yet you prefer a public lynching. A proud day for LSU.
