To not call a spy in the second half and then have the audacity to say that’s what you should’ve done after the game. It’s mind boggling. Were they throwing the game? I mean with all that experience they can’t be that stupid right?

I really think they were trying to go the LSU defense vs Manziel in 2012 route. That first sack on Milroe was the blueprint, keep your rush lanes, don't go too far up field and make a fence with no easy escape routes and make him throw or take the sack. Only problem was, as the game went on, guys consistently got out of their rush lanes and went upfield too far allowing lanes for Milroe to escape. Would a spy have helped, it's possible. The truth is though that LSU hasn't been effective at any scheme they've tried defensively this season which is why wholesale staff changes to the defensive side of the ball are-a-comin.
I know people won't want to hear this, but the scheme during this season hasn't been entirely a shiteshow. Lots of times, LSU has employed techniques that we have seen be very very succesful in the past. Problem has been the fundamentals and individual techniques to execute those schemes, which is still on the coaches to teach and instill in the players.

Well, look at the staff. You have a DC who wasn’t coordinating anything for 3 years and before that was a title while the HC coordinated the defense, a DL coach who hasn’t coached DL for 20 years, a safety coach who was fired 2x including by his current boss, and a CB coach whose experience is high school coach and assistant ST coordinator in the NFL for a year. Who is the defensive genius in that room?

I promise, this is not a "take up for the coaches" post. The film shows me that House has actually called decent schemes and plays this year but the players just flat suck. They're in the hole and miss tackles, they take bad angles, misplay balls in the air. 100% that is still on the coaches because it's your job to teach fundamentals to your players so they can execute your schemes but I do think it's more of our players are poorly coached on fundamentals as opposed to just stupid alignments and schemes.

No doubt this defensive staff hasn't been good which is the weird thing. Kelly has been really really good at hiring DC's his whole career. Hopefully this is just a one off.

They once called them "Carpetbaggers".
Penalize a player for not being ten minutes early for a meeting.
The entire coaching staff, paid millions, admit they had a spy package in their defensive plan, yet no one had the moxie to call the play.
Why is a player omitted from the game plan, for being tardy, yet the coaches continue to be paid.

Question, if the players haven't executed defensively with any scheme this season, including running a spy against Jordan Travis, what makes you think that would've magically stopped Alabama? This isn't to defend the coaches either, it's just that we are having the wrong conversation. The conversation should be "why aren't our players fundamentally sound in their techniques?" The coaches still deserve to be canned, but it's not because of a bad scheme imo. It's because our players don't do basic things correctly.
Perfect example was the triple option that Milroe scored on. Everyone knows basic principles of stopping triple option are as follows.
1) End takes the dive
2) Linebacker takes the QB
3) Safety takes the pitch man
That's basic football fundamentals 101. On that play in particular, the end takes the dive, and Major Burns takes the pitch man. Greg Penn however also takes the pitch man, leaving no one to account for Milroe. That's not a scheme thing, the player was there. He just broke down on his fundamentals and that is the real conversation and failure of this defensive coaching staff.

You know what's frustrating? That this is what the 100 million dollar man put together.

Hold up. I was told we have an adult in charge. You trying to tell me using really cool words during a press conference doesn’t win football games.

What’s disgusting is Kelly should have surveyed the DB room when he arrived and said I need to really focus here. After all, there are only so many Louisiana kids 5th year DB transfers available to fill spots for a year. Instead he hires a safety coach he knows damn well can’t recruit and never has been able to recruit and a CB coach who has never recruited before in his life other than middle school kids to a private high school.

That may be but it doesn’t matter what scheme is called (on either side of the ball) if players take forever or don’t shed their block. Slow to shed the block has been a problem all season.

I’m sure you’d be a much smarter coach.

He did. And he has to own it. Better get it fixed after the season.
If it isn't better next yr people will call for his head.
