i've said this several times over the years. skip made the template - family friendly. playgrounds, disney princesses, inflatable jumpers, balloon art, face painting, rock wall, ropes course, etc. sports now have to innovate and compete like every other industry. people don't just show up to games anymore. lowering ticket prices, solving traffic/parking isn't enough. there needs to be promotionals. once you get kids there, the family will be there.

i have a bitchin 65" 4k 3d tv but for me, there still is no substitute for being there. not even close.

Once you understand that teams are trying to maximize revenue, not attendance, everything will make sense.

And until you repeal the laws of supply and demand, there's literally nothing you can do about it.

For example, Mens BB makes FAR more money than Gymnastics even though you can't find an empty seat at a gym meet. The reason, avg ticket prices are much higher, and LSU earns twice as much money when 8,000 spend $30 per person than when 12,000 spend $10.

In 2008 I was able to buy Hornets 2nd round playoff tickets in the lower bowl for about $50 face value. I imagine that has probably tripled in a decade. The beer was $8 back then. Thankfully that hasn't tripled.

It’s always been a business but back in the day competition was still important. Now sports are an “industry” and it’s purely about profits and making money

Also, years ago, only 1 or 2 games per year were even on TV. Now with total Network coverage, you can watch every game. The appeal and value of seeing them play is down simply because I can watch them every week.

That’s very true, the novelty of going to a game isn’t there like it was then. But I still like to go to live sporting events, I just don’t go as much as I would like because of the expense

Trust me I get it. Charlie Comiskey lowballing his players is what lead to the Black Sox scandal; I’m not saying business wasn’t big in sports back then but now it’s completely overwhelmed the actual event itself

If you want proof that declining attendance is not just an LSU problem, just check out this game against A&M.

I would like to go to the games, but I would have to buy tickets, and I’m not down with that
