Moffitt, please adopt your football conditioning philosophy - pre '11 season...

I trust everyone on this staff...especially Tommy Moffitt. I know his S&C staff evaluates their program every year. But, I hope he adopts a similar strategy that he used prior to the 2011 season. It seems we feared (respected) U-Oregon's 'fast-tempo' offense, and prepared all summer & fall camp leading up to it. I think it resulted in the most well conditioned team LSU had ever fielded (at least one I'd ever seen).
I know McNeese State doesn't scare to many of our coaches & more importantly our players, but they better respect Miss. State's fast-tempo offense. I hope they're treating MSU as game 1, from a conditioning mentality standpoint.
Again, I trust in Moffitt. But I can't help but remember the pulse of BR leading into '11. Can we keep pace with UO? They were coming off a National Championship loss to AU with something to prove the nation about playing against the mighty SEC. We knew they were going to prepare very hard and we had to, at the very least, match that.
I enjoy hearing Moffitt's updates on morning radio stations, but those don't happen that often.

That's like, your opinion man.

A lot of that season was talent on the field(Defense)...I do believe we are rebuilding that, at present.

Doesn't sound like you trust him very much.

I doubt he's changed anything as far as his offseason program/workouts. The coaches had all summer to put together a scheme for that game.

Or maybe it was a defense loaded with NFL talent.

He gave an interview on Culotta and the Prince earlier this Spring where he mentioned the team is ahead of where they've been in the past.
Something to do with earning a certain shirt and more guys earning it this year than previous years.

Props on the quote from the GOAT, but...Yeah, well, you know, that’s just like, uh, your opinion, man.
Get it right!

This is correct. The preparation for the 2011 season was more due to the approach at practice. During fall drills leading up to the Oregon game the defense had to go against two fresh offenses. One offense would run a play and the other one would be ready to go immediately following, all while the first team defense had to shag arse to the line for every play and be ready to go. It was brutal on the defense but man it had them ready for Oregon. I remember thinking that it was SO successful that hopefully the coaches would just follow suit every fall camp with at least something similar. Pretty sure they did not.

He says that every single year

You think the staff and team forgot about Miss State from last year?
Posted on 6/24/15 at 12:34 pm to LSU4ea
Pretty sure it was the caliber of players that gave us success in 2011 not Moffitt. (with all due respect to Moffitt I hate the "wait till Moffitt gets hold of him" bullshite). We've been getting dominated in the trenches for a couple years now. We lack strength generally speaking.

You can have the most well-conditioned training program and it doesn't mean shite if you don't have the athletes buying in 100% and doing extra work on their own. Some guys aren't that motivated and just go through the motions.

Pretty sure that has to do with our coaches overall conditioning philosophy, and not just Moffitt's.

My point exactly.

Hence, the importance of winning game-1 against Oregon. You get a "by-in" easier when you WIN and players believe in your system.

LSU rotated six DEs and 5-6 DTs in 2011 against everybody. Tigers haven't had that much quality depth lately. Hopefully, they are headed back in that direction.
