This doesnt surprise me.CLM is a stand up guy,, what you see is what you get. We should be proud to have him as a leader of the LSU team. I wish him continued success and I look forward to enjoying his antics for many years to come!

I think Miles is a stand-up guy - honest to the core, but I have a hard time believing this.

There must be more to it than this - he must have gotten something from LSU to ensure himself against being booted out in a couple of years in response to the expected TD meltdown should he lose to Vanderbilt or something.

Belowpar said as much last week, but interesting to see it in black and white.

Would like to hear from Brandon about the fact that he wasn't offered....

we don't know the terms or anything. I see Les wanting to retire after 2017. Don't you? And why not stay in BR where his family wants to be? He wants stability and wants to be done with college football when he is aboutmid 60's from what I understand. The extension takes him there.
I do think he would be an awesome gameday type host. Better than a couple of those on there now.

Seven year extension with the Championship/top 3 coach pay clause still in vogue.
wwl reported this same story the other day on the radio. A.D.'s always play this "we got our man" bs by not having actually placed a contract on the table. They also offered Harbaugh a substancial raise fwiw.

As I said last week, it was up to a 5 million year deal for 5 years.

Miles really is a stand up guy.

He walked away from more cash and an opportunity to follow his initial dream.

Funny how MI and others tried to play it off like it was for less money which insulted him.

Miles can't recruit at Michigan like he can at LSU. Why give up a gravy-train of talent to do an entire overhaul that he might not be capable of bringing to an elite level? It wasn't blind loyalty keeping him here, it was common sense.

I think it's safe to say CLM doesn't consider the UM his dream job anymore. Apparently his move to the SEC has opened his eyes to what real college football is. And I think only Um fans feel their program is still relevant.

I don't think the extra money would have allowed CLM to do things he can't already do with his current salary. It's not like he has to eat Ramen Noodles now to survive.

Some people don't feel the need to make the most money possible just to boost their own ego. Its obvious there are more important things than money.

We're talking CLM not Little Nicky

I have probably been around longer than most people on this board and have not seen such loyalty since Charlie McClendon and Jerry Stovall coached. Of course they too were/are stand up guys.

Call him The Mad Hatter or whatever you want. I call him an LSU Man.

LES MILES!

Miles is a good man, I am glad he stayed at
LSU. He really had no choice. He really was
never offered the Michigan Job. He got more
years added to his contract without a pay
raise. That is loyal to not try and get more
money out of LSU. If he gets fired he will
get less money than he would have with the
other contract. We really need to support
this man. He has the best record since Cholly
Mac.

No. If you would have read the article you would have realized that they are redoing his contract. The new contract will have a clause that if he is fired he will be paid a flat buy-out rate of $3-5 million instead of his annual salary times the years he has left remaining on contract.

So CLM is not only taking less money now but he is also agreeing to take less money if he is fired later down the road.

It's just good to hear positive things about our coach...through good times and.....bad times as it's that way with all of us.

Really glad to read that. I was afraid we sold the farm for Miles. While he had a solid year this year, he was still three plays away from being 7-5 (UNC, Fla. and UT). Not a Miles fan, but pull for the Tigers regardless of the coach. At least now we are not tied to him good, bad or indifferent.
