I mean didn't Chaviz leave because he wanted a longer contract and not be tied to Miles in case he retires. Just seems like Miles isn't planning on coaching much longer anyway regardless of a hot seat or not. I guess that's what I was reading into this when it went down and Chevez jumped ship. Can someone in the know expound on this a little further.
My personal opinion was after Fournette finished Miles would probobly not far behind but maybe I misread this all along. The pieces should be in place to make a good run next year regardless. IMO

If he beats McClendon's record, he's gone. That has become common knowledge in many LSU circles.

That puts him leaving around 2018 or 2019. Ironically, about the same time Saban's contract is up, too.

The thing about something like this is in college football you can't really come out and say "I'm going to coach for one more year" or something like that unless there is the dreaded "coach in waiting". Otherwise I think it would be pretty hard to convince recruits to come to your school not knowing what the future holds regarding coaching.

I think most here think les retires after his contract is up, I'll be the first to say les has to make some changes but this yr would would be dumpster fire if we try to fore him, bc w are late to the party on the coaching search

He needs 28 wins to be #1. I'd say by the end of the 2018 season.

His contract is through 2019.

I would be more interested in helping Alleva out of the building first. I tend to think Miles will leave on his own. He's not the doofus that some make him out to be. Yes, he's a bit eccentric. That said, Bertman saw something in him, and I trust Bertman's judgment on hires a hell of a lot more than I do Alleva's.

I am thinking by 2020 would be Miles last year no matter what which is only 5 years away.
PM will likely hang it up around that time as well.

His kid has an offer to play at LSU. He will stay for a while.

Please go look up past history. Bertman made some bad hires. Smoke Lavall and Van Chancelor say hi. Alleva has made some pretty good ones and one bad one in Trent Johnson seemed good at the time. Oh and Cutcliffe at Duke was a good hire too. Alleva is a good AD I never got the hate for him. He has done wonders for the low income sports and facilities.
