That is not what the "word" is. Blue is closer to the top of the pack than people realize.

you don't think Blue is a HR threat?

Ware/Ford are the 2 guys he leans on early on games

Blue/Hilliard are his 2nd half "closers" who wear defenses out. Said he wants to eke at least 1 pair of fresh legs for later in games to wear teams out.

FIFY...that was last year. This is a new year. Ware has seemed to fall behind the others by multiple accounts.

My guess is he'd like to see Ford and Ware step up. Ware was terrible last year in MO. Averaging 4.0 yards a carry is not good in college. If you average 5.0 a carry in college that translates to 4.0 in NFL

if he saves Hilliard til the 2nd half to let his pet Ware "wear down" the defense then it is another terrible Miles move. Ware is 4th best RB at best and Hilliard needs to be getting the majority of the carries.

I think Blue will get more carries this year, but don't overlook Ford. If he gets the carries, he can be deadly. He's our most agile RB. And Hilliard just bounces off people and is so tough to take down.

Where did you get that from? All I heard through spring was a "revitalized Ware" etc...

It's just the word from people who are somewhat in "the know". Not sure how legit it is, but it seems to be coming from multiple people.

I don't think that's fair. We played a brutal stretch last season. And, think about this, Ware averaged 4.4 yards per carry in the month of November, and 6 of his 8 Rushing TD's came on 2nd down. There is no discounting how important Ware is to have in this rotation. I expect him to contribute a lot this season.

Thing making blood rush to my extremities is the fact that Blue, Hilliard, Ford, Ware, Hill are ALL going to produce and they will ALL make opposing defenses butts sore.

who did you hear about being soooo improved the spring before that? Miles' pets are always magical behind closed doors and everyone else fumbles in practice.

If you listen to the full quote, he says he wants to have 2 guys step up, and have a guy stay with fresh legs for the second half.

I still think Frank goes with the hot hand approach like last season, giving Hilliard or Ware early season, early game carries to wear down the defense. With Ford cleaning up after them and Blue going for yards in the 2nd half against tired defenses like last year.

Hill will fill the Ware/Hilliard role if either get hurt or are ineffective. Magee will fill either the Ford or Blue role if the same happens to either of them.

I actually think our top three rushers will differ a lot of time. I think there is too much talent there. It wouldn't surprise me to see some guys not get carries early in the season but get them late and vice versa, just to always have fresh legs.

its just stupid to waste carries you could give to Hilliard getting 6 a pop for Ware who is trying to run into the arms of a LB as fast as he can to impress Miles on his toughness

How awesome is it that we can even have this debate?

dont get me wrong, our running game was solid last year, but a few of the guys were disappointments. I think we are having this discussion because no one has stood out, when in fact all 4 or 5 of the guys have the talent to stand out.

Is it a good thing, or a bad thing? 2012 will tell.

I thought last year Blue was our best RB. Ware definitely needs to get in shape, as does Hilliard.

Not sure if serious??

Who in LSU's backfield is a dissappointment??

Hilliard needs to get in shape?? By who's standards is Hilliard out of shape?

I think everyone would agree that we are having this debate because we have 5 horses in the backfield that could start at just about any other school in the country.

My comments are based on Ware being in batter shape than last season and looking more like he did in the Cotton Bowl. Also, I don't see that big a porblem with him eating those carries early in the season and Hilliard being more fresh for the back end of the schedule.

One thing is though, we may have speed backs, but none of them are finesse backs. They're all going to finish runs hard. So they're all going to wear down the defense.

Blue looks good but he has gotten a lot of garbage big runs to make his YPC look nice.

Ware was a yard and a half less per carry than the next of the big 4 backs. Pretty sad that he is the starter.
