He doesn't suck but he is not an elite coach just average. He has traits that will always keep him from achieving top rank coaching ability.

I'm gonna go out on a very short limb here and assume you didn't become a fan of LSU football until 2003. Please state your age for the class if you don't mind. I'll guess around 20.

I like to remind people that before last season, most LSU fans were saying that 2012 would be our year. What we did last year was just incredible. The last game sucked, but having the season we had when we were still a year away, in most peoples opinion, is an accomplishment of itself.

You can bitch about one bad game, but if we win it all this year are you still going to talk trash about Miles?

It'd be pretty hard to bash a coach that just won a national championship. So no, I'd say all would be forgiven.

I guess enough time has passed for some of you in this thread. I was an adamant Miles defender before last year. Not like Miles cares or it makes any difference in the world, but he needs to earn back the trust of the fan. I know for a fact that I'm not the only one that feels this way.

And I'm 29 for the other guy who wanted to know. Went to LSU from '01 to '06.

So 1 loss, regardless of how, determines if a coach is shitty? So Sabin must suck... didn't he lose to ULM?

and UAB

Where did I say Miles was shitty? He's clearly not a bad coach.

The season ended on a sour note and I'm sour. This will change the week of the first game.

Unprepared, undisciplined, hard headed sticking with a terrible QB.
If Miles had subbed Mett in a game we couldn't protect the QB and he got a knee blown out on one of many sacks, wouldn't you be on here saying what a dumb frick he is for risking our only hope for 2012?

You know you would.

I wish we'd had a coach that sucked this bad for the last 30 years. Miles is a one of a kind, but we like him that way. He makes us smile, and sometimes cry, but the smiles are much bigger and more frequent than at any time in Tiger history that I can recall.

Hmmmm......

Zook took over a UF team ranked #3 in 2001 after 56-23 BCS bowl win and went 23-14 (0-3 in bowl games) in his 3 seasons as HC at Florida.

Miles took over an LSU team ranked #16 in 2004 and has gone 75-18 (5-2 in bowl games) with 2 SEC championships, a national championship, 4 top 5 finishes and 5 top 10 finishes in 7 seasons.

.......and the difference is luck?

Because his stubborness cost us a national championship against Bammer! Because he is basically an idiot who would rather lose than play all his options.

Can't even compare Miles to Coker anymore. After 7 years if Miles was no good then we'd know it. We wouldn't have a NC contender.

The Coker comparison was never fair. Coker was Miami's offensive coordinator for 6 years before being given the reigns to the team. He had a relationship with the players and retained the same staff and system and the program steadily declined.

Miles was an outside hire who had to bring in a new DC and kept an OC with a an offensive philosophy that clashed with his yet the program actually showed steady improvement in his first 3 seasons,

......but it can be argued that each program is where it is today because of Coker and Miles.

Terrible comparison.

Zook had never been a head coach before going to UF. Was in over his head from the very beginning. Zook could have never manufactured a season like Miles had last season.

Right, its just luck. What amazing luck this guy has. He gets a great job at a loaded LSU and on the day he's set to play Notre Dame in the Sugar Bowl, Nick Saban, the guy replaced at LSU, take the job at AlafrickingBama.

In 2011 after beating Saban AT Bama, in a knock down drag out "game of the century" 1 v 2 match up, ole Lucky Les gets to play them again in the NC.

If anything he's been UNLUCKY in the most important matters. Every coach wins a game with some lucky bounce, but that doesn't fit the media or other fans view. They just don't want to give him any credit.

Les won at Ok State and has LSU at an elite level. Zook was a failure at arguably the top job in CFB, its no comparason.
