not really a big difference. Both are butt-frick stupid.

No matter what, our QB situation going into 2009 isn't as bad as what we experienced in '08. Between Jefferson, Lee and Sheppard—assisted by a pretty damn good supporting cast in my opinion—I think a 9-3 or maybe 10-2 season is possible. That's good enough for me, regardless of who's taking the snaps. And with all the stellar recruiting and other good moves Miles & Co. have made during the off-season, I trust the braintrust to figure it all out and make a lot of us happy this upcoming season.

I still can't figure out why anyone would choose to start lee over jefferson...
Maybe if Lee looked like a better QB than Jefferson?

lee just seemed like he was playing scared.

jefferson seemed like a leader.
Not in 2009.

There's 6 months between now and opening day, and it will have been nine months since either of them have played when we open the 2009 season. I believe Jefferson is clearly most likely to be the best QB come September. But it is obviously foolish to assume that it will necessarily be the case. Justin Vincent clearly outperformed Ally Broussard in 2003 (and by a much wider margin and with a much larger sample size), and yet the two players were different enough by the next season that Broussard was the clearly superior player in 2004. And "why" Vincent or Broussard were not the player in '04 that they were in '03 is not the point; the point is that it can happen. So anyone who insists that there is no way Lee could legitimately earn the starting spot in '09 over Jefferson is clearly ignorant of the realities of football. And the irony is that so many of the people making that absurd assertion are lashing out with such harsh denouncing of the reasonable people who understand and accept the reality that no one really knows for sure what kind of player either of them will be next year.

Why would we put him back in after he showed he couldnt take even the weakest of the SEC that cleanly?
The weakest SEC team we faced was Arkansas. Lee did not face them.

that was a DAMN good post
Yes, it was. Just like all the rest of them that have pointed out that Jefferson is not necessarily going to be either the starter or the best QB next year, even though it seems most likely. And that it is entirely possible that Lee could improve from his freshman year to his Sophomore year, even if it seems unlikely.

Let me just point out how ridiculous it is to even compare colt mccoy to jarrett lee. Colt McCoy Beat, let me repeat that again just for those a little slow, BEAT OU his first year. Every year that he has been a starter, texas has won at least 10 games. Please stop reporting your opinions as if they are fact without doing any research backing it up. If lee has a good offseason and jefferson doesn't then let lee play some, but don't compare the 2. It is a huge slap in the face to mccoy and a huge lie about lee.

Every year that he has been a starter Texas has had a MUCH better defense than LSU had in '08; that (along with a Big XII schedule) is why they were able to win 10 games despite him throwing 18 interceptions. If we had been facing competition like that with a defense like Texas', we'd have won the Georgia, Bama and Arkasnas games and finished 11-2, even with Lee, Jefferson and Hatch playing like they did.

Ok, I will bite: JR was coming back from a potentially serious injury. Who is coming back from a serious injury?

MF was named the MVP in the bowl game but did not get the starting job. J.J. was named the MVP in the game, but the idiot and you are saying J.J. will get the starting job because he was the MVP in the bowl.

Now that you mention it, any clueless RANTard would equate those identical situations--

Our best chance for consistently good QB play this year is J.L. due to his greater experience playing against SEC defenses.

Lee fired a pass across the middle to get that drive started.

It was a floater into multiple coverage that was nearly picked were it not for a great catch by the receiver, as I remember it.... but, don't let that get in the way of your agenda.

Just to spite all of you cock-sucking haters, I sincerely hope that Lee kicks everyone's arse in spring football...then again in fall practice...and earns the starting QB job. You bunch of know-it-alls who want to hate on a kid who tried his arse off despite being thrown to the wolves last year make me sick.

Miles understands he had to throw Lee to the wolves last year not fully prepared. He understood we didn' have anyone else more prepared to play QB last year due to expulsion and injury.

Instead of attacking Jarret Lee for having trouble with some of the best defenses in the nation, we should be thanking Lee for his strong efforts and supporting him in this year's practice camps.

Since John Brady is gone, our Hater Nation faction on the RANT has put Lee in their crosshairs, and those idiots want to throw J.J. to the wolves no matter if he is ready or not.

Let J.J. toss a few interceptions and the boo birds will be calling for R.Sheppard to be thrown to the wolves this year.

We have met the enemy and they are us.
