Mettenberger combined with Beckham for 20/30 plus yard pass receptions to inside the Bama 35 twice in closing 10 minutes.
Here is the difference between Miles and Saban.
MILES OFFENSE from BAMA 33
Hill up middle 2 yds
Hill up middle 1 yd
Ware qb sneak 0 yds, BAMA takes over
MILES OFFENSE from BAMA 32
Copeland up middle 3 yds
Hill around end minus 3 yds
Hill up middle 4 yds, MISSED field goal
6 runs for 7 yards
BAMA gets down to LSU 28
SABAN Offense
A beautifully executed screen pass to TJ. Yeldon, for a 28 yard touchdown.
Thats the difference between Bama playing for the National Championship and LSU playing in the Outback Bowl.
Now when you have Alabama by the throat and can only account for 7 yards on 6 runs and you are making 4 million dollars a year you need to step up to the plate and take some heat. LSU may be the only team in college football that does not have a screen pass in their playbook. Comon Man!!

Saturday night was the best play calling I've seen all season. There were a handful of plays that I didn't agree with, but overall I was happy. So I'm not going to complain.

Do people ever NOT complain about the play calling? Ever?
LSU will not be playing for the Outback Bowl.

I agree that we could have put them away but based on the way the defense played for all of the second half the coach made a decision that was sound. I think I would have tried to throw for a first down on the last 3rd down but if Mett had thrown a pick 6 then all of you would be bitching about that.

The reason he ran three time with 2 minutes left was to run down the clock. Would have nice to have thrown and put the dagger in but I don't disagree at all with the calling. Fake FG and 50 yarder at the end of the half are the only two that I was a aggravated with, but all in all, we played great.

While I agree that some the of play calls were suspect, you don't get to cherry-pick the bad ones.
Playcalling overall was great, and much improved.
Can't believe how much play-action pass we saw. "Finally" is how I felt.

this.
we had the lead and were trying to make them use timeouts. and we had a D that was stopping them. if mett made a mistake and threw an INT everyone would be yelling at miles saying why can't we rely on our D.

Ummm, $$$$$ had to pass, because Bama was out of timeouts with about a minute to play.

based on the above results, it's hard to argue with you. the problem with miles or studs or whoevers playcalling in your example is that the defense he called them against was bama; built to stop the run. AND, it continued his STRONG tendencies in the red zone to run the football. that needs to change. miles needs to LET METT make a mistake. he has done so earlier but it is time to let him throw the ball in the red zone again. maybe miles will agree after he witnessed mett's growing up saturday.

Amen. I sometimes wonder if the idiots who constantly second guess decision makers consider this.

best play calling for this season by far.just came up short.

Dear football genius:
In the final 10 minutes the two teams were clearly approaching the game with two different philosophies.
LSU was trying to run out the clock, and DID.
Bama, who had NO TIMEOUTS because LSU ran out the clock quite successfully HAD TO PASS.

Alumni80, what an idiot you are! If Miles had thrown a pass that was incomplete and stopped the clock, you would be bitching because he threw the ball and we had a running back with 100 yards. God forbid Mett would have thrown an interception. You are the definition of a Monday morning QB. You can second guess every call of every game after the fact and always assume something else may have worked (definitely something other than what actually occurred). You are the type of person that I don't want to sit next to in Tiger Stadium, if you even go to LSU games.
By the way, I saw all of your positive posts before the game and during the game. What a fan you are? You must be proud.
The only positive - I can see why you are banging your head against the wall, but, sorry, that won't give you any more sense.

Biggest issues were deep in Bama territory. Failed to take advantage and got bogged down. Rest of the field the play calling was great.
