Les Miles, post-practice: "We took the field throwing the football."

quote:

Miles: "We're headed towards the opportunity to throw the football better." #LSU

quote:

Les Miles says #LSU is spending more time on the passing game this spring than before. Did it start to finish Monday.

quote:

Miles said #LSU did some "off-season studies" on the passing game, with specifics to breaking down video of other teams' systems.

quote:

Miles: "We’re taking an inordinate amount of time at the beginning of practices to set up, technically, our throwing game.

quote:

"I think everyone would realize comfortably we need to execute the passing game a little more efficiently."

quote:

Miles: "Brought in film, cut it up and really did some good work on some opponents and some guys who throw the football really well."

He's certainly talking a big game in regard to change. "More efficient in the passing game" seems to be a phrase that can annually signal the start of spring practice though. But he's putting more emphasis on those improvements out of the gate than he usually does.

His job depends on it, that's why.

I heard Harris was perfect in passing the ball quickly back to Fournette who followed his fullback off tackle.

As I mentioned, like clockwork in the spring he always mentions being more efficient and better execution of the plays called.

He's ramped up his normal rhetoric for sure. Doesn't mean jack shite until we see quantifiable improvements. But he's certainly enforcing the expectation of significant improvement.

Sounds to me like there is a want to throw the ball down the field with a quality group of men that will fight like hell for victory.

It's all BS. Why not just say. Our offense has to be better. We are working on the passing game. Our Quarterbacks have to be able to read the defense and know when and where to throw it even if it means throwing a pass that is 10 or 15 yards and not just 50 yards down field. We have to force defenses off the line of scrimmage and we are not going to just keep running into 7, 8 and 9 in the box. He can't seem to make a freaking coherent statement. We will really know it's crap when we hear him talk about how great DJ Chark looks just like he did last spring and finally played him 1 play against TT. Ok I'm done. Sorry just had to rant.

To Les Miles, 5 minutes on the passing game is probably excessive. After the last few years I don't think that any amount of time could be considered inordinate.

Certainly the want for improvement is both sincere and measurable. The quality and execution of passing concepts paired with 3 or 4 very capable backs will surely be enjoyed and parlayed into victory.

I'm as frustrated with the passing woes as anyone but the responses in this thread are ridiculous. People whine that Miles won't practice or put emphasis on improving the pass game. He comes out and admits they are spending a ton of time practicing passing and people still complain.

LSU has underachieved, wasted talent and likely missed out on championships because of a dreadfully inconsistent passing game that is regularly ranked outside of the top 100. Miles can SAY whatever he wants in reference to improving the passing game. Until it actually happens however, people are justifiable in their doubt.

I'm not going to disagree with you that the passing game absolutely needed to be fixed.

I'm not saying the believe it when I see it posts are out of line. I am however saying that calling Miles a functional retard no matter what happens or what he says is ridiculous.
