Will someone please tell me how much Miles' buyout is if they were to fire him now. Also where can I go to verify that amount?

$15-18M over like 5+ years IIRC. We can afford it.

" LSU has now lost six straight SEC games in November."

I truly miss those days when LSU finished strong, seperated itself from the rest of the conference and kept their feet on the throats of lesser opponents.

Chicken, I don't get it with the anti- Miles crowd. if Miles were to finish this season with 10 wins his accomplishments would be as follows:

1. Won National Championship -1 0f ONLY 3
2. Fastest coach in LSU history to 50 wins.
3. 4 10 or more wins in 4 of first 5 seasons
4. Winning percentage app. 70%

Only season he didn't win 10 games was season he dismissed QB (top 25 player in nation in HS)

No way in the world should you be on hot seat with a record like that. if he wins 8 games this year, then different but not 10 and maybe not 9.

Boys ya'll might as well get ready to be in the lower tear of the sec.west. If les stays long, we will be back to 7&5 yearly, unless we can get a couple more ball states on the schedule. Where is curly hallman when u need him.

I am with u truck man 7&8 against sec. op, sucks. Miles is still on the side lines studying the grass instead of getting ready for the feild goal.

Have you guys considered hiring Ron Zook out of Illinios?

Just kidding, I would hate to be in your position right now. However, looking ahead to next year, with potentially over 10 starters leaving for the NFL including Spikes and Tebow, Florida has a lot to recover from.

Every game you lost was close this year. You guys are in a much better position bext year, with key players returning and some great young studs in last year's recruiting class having a year to mature.

I am not sure Miles is the answer, but you will have a great season next year and have the tough games at home.

lsuchamps11, the point of my article is to bring light to the argument that wins are not sufficient. It has to be meaningful wins that get you to the conference championship game.

I am happy with what Miles did from 2005 to 2007...but 2008 and 2009 brought to light some deficiencies that he must address.

Eventually, going 10-3 every year isn't going to cut it if you are losing those three games to SEC opponents every year and missing the SECCG.

This is not the right question.
Going 10-3 or 9-4 is not a magic talisman.
We have a very disorganized team, playing no where near it's potential. The nature and source of the confusion is unlike anything I've sen in major college football and the source/ solution seems to be beyond the head coache's ability to comprehend and explain.
It seems this coach can (up to this point) recruit, but cannot coach up to the level of his talent. In time, this will kill a program.
The real quesiton is whether my assesssment is accurate and if so, what do we intend to do about it?

BTW, The cat has now come out of the bag about Les' game coaching ability in such a dramatic, high profile way, that it WILL have an effect on recruiting. This has been Mile's biggest strength.
But after Saturday, you cannot hide this nationally televised catastophe from any HS player in the country.
When people start laughing you're toast...

I'm having a hard time seeing this beat up squad muster up enough to sacrifice themselves for an imbecile.

Maybe they can do it for themselves?
Or maybe even for the team?

That sums it up, right there. If I were Nick Saban, or Urban Meyer, I'd show the Ole Miss game debacle to every potential recruit deciding between LSU and my school, and ask them if they want to be put in that postition...or in a position to win.

Can we please get another coach. One that is smart enough to handle game situations.

Crowton is a complete failure as an OC. The no-huddle gimmick has been a huge flop. With a new QB and young players, he should have never kept up the nonsense. Talking about a lack of intellectual flexibility - doesn't work, try something different. Most of the plays are called in late, the O has no time to think or prepare - thus the "predictable" calls. It has NOTHING to do with JJ or anyone else on the field, those guys are excellent athletes and would thrive under a gifted coach. If GC doesn't go, then Miles needs to hand over the great guys he's recruited to someone who knows what to do with them.

But is the Boise coach the choice for LSU? He's had success there, but I guess I just am a homer and haven't really looked real close at him. Is he really into Scientology? That was a rumor I sort of picked up on.

No, he's never been a Scientologist. I interviewed him 2 years ago, and he said he had no idea who started that rumor. And there's a guy on the Rant who lives there and he attends the same, non-denom. church with Petersen and his family.

The guy is super-smart but not arrogant, he always has his teams ready to play, he recruits well, despite the degree of difficulty of coaching in Idaho, and gets his players to buy in to what he wants to do.

Such as what he did w/Ian Johnson the season after they beat Oklahoma (when that guy had folk-hero status after proposing to his cheerleader girlfriend). He converted him to fullback, resulting in a lot less carries, and started a true freshman QB last yr., who's now the top-rated passer in the nation. He will play his best players regardless of their class and is so organized and knows how to delegate to his assistants.

Miles is old-schoool and sticks to his seniors, and our 5-star recruits are either red-shirted or "not ready to play," and that's hurt us (JJ didn't get in there until Lee got knocked out, R. Shepard still hasn't even faked a pass all year. He will put guys in the dog-house for one fumble, but for some reason J. Lee pick-6's himself into the NCAA record books. Then, JJ gets hurt and back comes Lee, generating 4 yards in net offense in the 4th qtr. of the Ala. loss, followed by his stellar 7-22 performance vs. LA Tech.

Sorry for the extended rant, 'cos Miles did earn my respect after today's news conference by taking the blame for all the disasters on Saturday, holding himself accountable. He was genuine, and when I got a few minutes one-on-one w/him, I could tell it really stung that he had let his players down first (which is the most important thing; the fans, boosters, and the University community should be lower on the food-chain than the guys that go to war for you).

It'll be interesting to see what the response will be on Saturday night, but he did take a big step toward getting the LSU fan-base back in his corner...

Speak for yourself. Stating the obvious is not going to fix the situation, or do much of anything to improve it.

They get CBS in Michigan, OK? They saw what happened Saturday.
Would YOU hire Les Miles after seeing that?

Nope, but they would. They watched us lose at home to Arky in triple-OT, then tried to nab him BEFORE we beat Tenn, and then Ohio St. Also, in our next gm. (to start last season), they saw us demolish App. State at home, too. And w/Hatch and Lee at QB no less...
