Me too..............He has severe dyslexia or ADHD or cognitive problems when it comes to play calling, clock management and time outs............ OMG It makes me sick............. LSU has to pay $18 million for a incompetent coach to be fired; how stupid is that?

LSU is in a bad way right now. First, there's no chance that Michigan would want Miles at this point - they watch TV too. And no other big time program would be interested in Miles now.

Second, what top notch offensive coordinator would want to work for a guy like Miles? Surely, all good coordinators will be aware that Miles is on the hot seat, and would be reluctant to go work for a possible lame duck. We might get lucky and pick up a young, relatively unkown coach with nothing to lose who turns out to be a diamond-in-the-rough - but that is a long shot.

LSU should be seriously considering cutting Miles loose now. It's the old "pay me now or pay me later" scenario. The longer LSU waits, the more damage likely will be done.

What about the Defensive Coordinator at TCU Dick Bumpas who has had the #1 defense most of this year, as a SEC head coach. How about Sarkisian at Washington....how about Kirk Forenz.....how about Stanford's head coach that put it on USC;
someone young and dynamic that has that fire in their belly to coach up the talent and the ability to give the players the physical and emotional leverage to go out and win. Miles can't it seems get them excited to play with heart and soul to win. And they looked exhausted against ALABAMA - Saban has his athletes looking like NFL players already. MILES is very mediocre. Maybe he (Miles) wants to fail LSU and take his $18 million and just retire.

I don't. Primarily since I haven't seen him progress at all this season.

The Ole Miss game was Jefferson's 12TH START. That is technically ONE FULL SEASON under his belt.

Arky last year, bowl game, and 10 games this year since he didn't start vs Tech.

I think he's making great progress, despite incompetant coaching, and a piss poor OLine. Does he take sacks that he shouldn't? Yes. I don't fault him for the sack he took Saturday down at the 30. He had NO SHORT route to throw too.

That is PISS POOR coaching, my friend. PISS POOR.

"We certainly have the want to finish first in that game, and have want for more time on clock...

...as the clock ran down, timeouts were being called verbally...which didn't relay to the official apparently....We didn't know that the timeout had not been called."

The fact of the matter is LSU put themselves in this situation and now they are royally f'd. After the Charlie Weiss disaster and this, I wouldn't be surprised if major schools focused more on conditional contracts. A "what have you done for me lately" type deal. None of this ridiculous buyout crap. Even if he sucsk next year, we still have to buy him out right? Does TAF have that type of money?

What's crazy is I'm really starting to think you're right

The money is not trivial when LSU has had a 40 million dollar state cut to the institution (yes, football is revenue generating but as evidenced by the "will the band go to washington" discussion there is spill over between athletic department and non-athletic department funding)

So paying Les out something over 15 million dollars to buy him out (if that's the figure) will really hurt LSU this year. But the administration needs to take an extremely careful look at doing exactly that. Each home game generates enormous revenue. Merchandise generates enormous revenue. And the big television contracts from CBS and ESPN generate enormous revenue for LSU

This is big time stuff and the consequences of failing to succeed are enormous... if we are more likely to have to fire him next year than not then the time to move on it is now... to bite the bullet and pay 15-20 million now to save many millions more later

Bottom line, if LSU doesn't win vs Arkansas and win their bowl game then the administration should probably fire Mr. Miles. And I just hate that reality... because I like him as a person and very much appreciate the success he had between 2005 and 2007

This is correct. I don't think he was ever offered the Michigan job to begin with. No source other than the idiot herbstreet has ever confirmed. They know the guy and what an idiot he really is.

As long as he is at LSU (i think at least next season) I believe that LSU will win games because of the talent, but lose games they should win because of the coaching. There is no excuse for the VERY poor performance of the offense this season.

no what's sad is that people actually try to defend Miles. it's ok to not wear purple and gold glasses all the time and calla spade a spade. yes Miles won a National Championship, but did anyone really believe he had much to do with that?

..it is possible for Les to correct this, IMO..

...maybe delegate responsibilty to the coordinators to run all end-of-game situations...and get OC on the sideline to speed up communication...

I'm inclined to agree with some others. Les has always been mediocre and in the past, the team found ways to win in spite of the coaching, not because of the coaching. He's always been in over his head. If there's a way, I'd cut him loose after this season and do my utmost to hire somebody with imagination and discipline. Look at what Cinnicinnati's done with little guys - can we get that guy?

Yes. Things like JJ and Charles Scott refusing to lose and having the heart and strength to get the TD and the W...

Why doesn't anyone mention LSU also has a chance to go 8-5 just as easy as 10-3?

Conventional wisdom says Miles is safe but if it appears the players have quit and we get blown out by arky or lose the game due to another blunder like the one we witnessed on saturday I wouldn't be suprised to see him cut loose. We don't need another repeat of the brady situation. If he needs to be let go let him go.

I don't think many people have given this much thought. Very true.

I have thought about this too. It is another reason Crowton will be kept...

why, oh, WHY, do ranturds keep bringing up that miles is paid sooo much.
LSU offered and paid the money BECAUSE miles was coach when LSU won the bcs n.c. in 2007.

LSU did not want miles to go to michigan. LSU did not want miles to pull a saban on us. LSU wanted to reward miles for being the coach, whether it was luck or not.

Don't know that will happen. If Miles hires a great OC, they will have a great contract. Would provide financial cushion should Miles get sacked and new HC not retain them. However, if they really are good, chances are they would be retained - i.e. Jimbo Fisher after Saban and with Miles.

Miles is young. He wouldn't be recruiting the OC who is poised to become the next major college HC. He will look at someone who can work with him over time. But, that's just my take.

Is there anyone at LSU that knows how to hire a football coach. Careful you may get what you wish for.

Miles is not going anywhere, and after listening to the press conference, I would bet that Crowton gets another chance.
