Everyone loves Les as a person. Everyone respects his record. We get that teams lose games and people understand that injuries pile up, players leave early, and sometimes teams go through slumps. LSU fans do not expect to win every game and we are grateful for winning 75% of them.

But, we all see the problem. EVERYONE in the college football world see the problem except Les Miles. He has had 5 OCs in 11 years and it has been the exact same offense minus a few wrinkles here and there like a bubble screen or pistol formation. His hires have gotten worse and worse. The penalties and lack of team discipline grows year after year corresponding with a lack of physicality and toughness. LSU gets punched in the mouth now and they back down instead of taking it to the other team.

All of that said, Miles' philosophy does not work anymore. That is okay, honestly. It happens to every coach over a long tenure and Les has earned the right to change it. He could be honest with the Admin, boosters, and fan base and say,

"I want success more than anyone and I have come to the place where I realize I have to change - LSU has to change. I am bringing in ________ as my OC and we are firing Steele and bringing in ________ as a DC and we are going to get back to playing dominant LSU football. I am tired of what I am seeing on the field and the buck stops with me. I am responsible and I am going to do everything possible to fix it, whatever that means. Our players deserve better. We are not putting them in a position to win and play up to their abilities. Our fans deserve it as well. This offseason will be one of change and the product next year will be something that everyone will be proud of. Let's go!"

If Miles said that, made good decisions, and offered up a solid plan, he would have another chance. I am sure that he has had the chance to say that.

But, he won't. He can't. His pride won't let him. He thinks he is right and everyone else is wrong. The results on the field show him he is wrong, but he won't pay attention. His pride leading to extreme stubbornness is why he has to go - not anything that anyone is doing to Les. Les Miles has done this to himself. The $15 million buyout or whatever it is recognizes and thanks him for his past accomplishments. The moving on now to another coach recognizes his present pride/stubbornness and pays the massive price for it to position LSU where it needs to be to win because Les won't do it himself, even though that is his job. Les is no longer doing what is best for LSU. Out of pride, he is defending his own position. That won't work when he is proven wrong over and over.

We all love Les as a man. That is true. But, he needs to change and won't. He has made this decision himself.

Yup, thats why his last contract was just to up the buyout rather than a pay raise. He was on coast, and thought winning enough games each year would keep rolling over that contract, because LSU wouldnt pay that huge buyout

He was stunned to find out how wrong he was

Surely you are joking. If you cannot see the constant improvement on offense, you are blind. Les is the bestest, nicest, super smartest, successfulest coach we have ever had. Les should be given a 20 year extension because he has a high win percentage and there is absolutely no better coaches out there.

Agree with this 100%. He is easily a likable guy, and gets recruits because of it. Its unfortunate he will not change his philosophy at all, and it has to go down this way. I believe if we would have tried changing it up, he may have a few more years to see what he can do. He has just become stale as a coach, and that is what costed him his job.

His stubborness will lead to his dismissal.
I really get pissed st people saying he is being treated wrong. Think about it, he has flirted with Michigan 3x's and Arkansas once to increase his pay, he is now on the other end of this business. It goes both ways. The $15 million is calling it even at this point
