From the Times-Picayune:
"Coaches often block such moves for competitive reasons, but LSU head coach Les Miles said Jones had done everything requested of him and thus deserved the shot of his choice. Jones' release was therefore made unconditional, and a spokesman for LSU said the program wishes Jones, who must sit out this season and then have two years of eligibility remaining, the best."

Probably no one would have blinked had Miles set restrictions on a transfer within the conference - but this was definitely the honorable thing to do. How often do we hear of other coaches pissing and moaning about someone transferring - and at best not letting them transfer to certain schools. Other recruits should take notice.

I could just see him tripping to give up the game winning catch

Lafell will be gone. Toliver or Randle perhaps.

Why give Jones a middle finger?
We are too deep and he just dowsnt want to go to school and get on the bench during games. He wants to play. He knew he wasnt going to get his chance soon so he is going to a place where it is more likely that he will get a chance sooner. He did what was best for him. I commend Miles as well.

Well being that this will be LaFell's last year at LSU and Jones will have to sit out a year at Bama this would be one of the greatest back to the future movies ever

Miles' handling of this is very commendable.

I never really understood how a coach could restrict where a player transfers. There is already a set penalty for transferring in that you sit out for a year. That should be enough. After all, schools like to comment that scholarships are year-to-year when a player's scholarship is not renewed. If that is the case, why should a coach be able to restrict where a player chooses to transfer?

Before someone responds telling me the rule, I know the rule. Just stating my opinion of the rule.

He will probably get in on a basket weaving scholarship. I hear they have a few left.
