LSU head coach Les Miles is clearly miffed that Tulane is partnering with Texas A&M on satellite camps. His program is partnering with several in-state schools in recruiting camps.

quote:

In the meantime, at a news conference Tuesday, Miles, while not referencing Texas A&M or Tulane directly, said that the Aggies may come in and poach a prospect that interests the Green Wave. “If there’s a bunch of SEC schools in here, there’s a likelihood that, at some point in time, they take one of the prospects,” said Miles.

Miles needs to put an extra harsh beat down on aTm this season as punishment

Just more proof that any idiot with a computer can get his stupidity to a huge audience. He suggests that Miles' concern is competition from Tulane. Surely the writer is not that stupid. Miles is simply saying that giving SEC teams (read: A&M in this case, apparently) more access to Louisiana players simply increases the chances that they will discover and sign one that might have stayed in-state, either at Tulane or another Louisiana school, including LSU.

Tommy Bowden was smart when he was at Tulane. He always said he hoped LSU would get every recruit we wanted, because the more of our top-of-the-list targets we got, the less further down our list we would have to go and that would leave higher caliber players available for Tulane.

This isn't on A&M, it's on Tulane. They are only hurting themselves by partnering with an OOS Power 5 school.

Exactly. The writer is saying this in the context of criticizing Miles and implying that he doesn't like it because he is worried about Tulane. A&M is Miles' concern, obviously.

The writer is not saying that at all.

I don't see what the big deal is. If Miles doesn't like it, he should partner with Louisiana High Schools for satellite camps just like A&M is doing.

Do you mean, partner with lesser Texas colleges in their state for camps?

It's not a big deal, but if they think they can take a deal from TAMU and still come to our elite camp, they are wrong.

I think it's yet to be seen if this works out for Tulane.

Tulane may be better off partnering with out of state schools because it needs access to a broader base of players geographically. I'm assuming that Tulane will be invited to participate in an Aggie camp in Texas.

What Miles is saying is that the decision comes at a cost and that Tulane coaches will not be able to participate in the LSU camps.

I'm not ready to say what the end result is going to be on these type of decisions.

I bet Tulane doesnt have the regional pull to get the prospects to camp, adding AnM will give them that chance. I cannot think of a worse pairing, I am so thankful I have no part or reason to be near that.

It's a double edged sword for Tulane. Schools willing to partner with Tulane at out of state camps will look to partner with them in state. Do you risk losing Nola players for the sake of gaining 1-2 out of state.

Tulane is just trying to get in line to pick up players Texas A&M rejects.

I doubt LSU would be interested in those same rejects.....

No player is choosing Tulane over A&M.

But, there are probably a lot of players who hope they can make an impression on A&M...yet will ultimately only be offered by a mid to low tier school like Tulane. That's what they are after.

Tulane tries to undermine us yet we continue to subsidize their athletic dept. by allowing them to scalp tickets to the baseball game when it is played at Turchin Stadium. I would give them an ultimatum: cut the crap or else we will cut off all contact with their athletic programs. We have absolutely nothing to gain by playing them anyway.
