This. Anything is possible, but consider these facts.

LSU at night in Tiger Stadium is nearly unbeatable.

Jamie Keehn may be the only Tiger that was alive the last time LSU lost to MSU in Tiger Stadium.

Bill Clinton was President the last time MSU beat LSU at all.

LSU is a 10 point favorite. (was a 31 pt favorite last week)

NONE of these things should instill "confidence" that MSU is going to beat LSU. Not saying it can't happen, but to be confident it will is silliness.

Also, of MSUs 3 opponents to date, every single one has FAR eclipsed their own passing yds stats against MSU. Hell, UAB threw for nearly 500 against them. They are completely untested, having played USM, UAB, and USA. But the fact that all three of these ridiculously subpar teams has gashed MSUs secondary is very telling.

Does anyone remember Mike Detillier reporting that Russell Shepard was going to be the second coming of Percy Harvin heading into 2012 season! I take Detillier's scouting reports about as serious as a one given from Bobby Hebert! Amateur hour!

Not too worried, he picked the Saints over the Browns in a rout last week as well

You are just making things up?

He picked the Saints in a close game. He called it a dogfight.

Can you provide stats to back up this claim?

The truth is LSU had 220 rush yards last weekend. I'll take that "shutdown" against MSU all day considering the lackluster secondary they have to compliment that successful rushing game.

ULM allowed 114 total rush yards through their first two games, or 57/game. We nearly quadrupled that.

That was more because they had Clowney.

I did watch the game. I saw LSU run for over 200 yards and average over 4 yards a carry. Did you watch the game?

If ULM can stiffle our running game, I fear that the Bulldogs may as well.

As is usually the case, the Tigers will have to throw the ball to win an SEC game. MSU is extremely vulnerable in the defensive backfield as UAB exposed. LSU will not be shut down by MSU unless they shoot themselves in the foot with penalties, turnovers, dropped balls, etc. Sate's defense has done a good job against the run but no one noteworthy. LSU, on the other hand, will play mostly man in the secondary and allow their linebackers and safeties to concentrate mostly on run support.

If I remember it correctly we had some success running to the outside against this DL. 2 examples was this pitch to Hilliard toward the end zone and a Hill run where he bounced to the outside for a big gain.

Its a close call on this one. I like the homer pick, but no one knows what team is coming out on either side...Its going to be a toss up on any Western Division games this year. People need to understand that the West is stacked, even Arkansas is going to surprise somebody, esp. LSU, after they play Alabama. Every school in the West will have to be on their best, on every game, thats just how talented this Division is. No surprise on the pic, None....

Yes and moo st wont wear down like ULM did in the second half. SEC teams have more quality depth than sun belt teams.

Hilliard has probably looked like the best back.

Hilliard 41 carries, 5.2 yard avg. Fournette 31 carries, 5.2 yard avg.

Actually, it's 5.24 for Hilliard and 5.22 for Fournette. So I'm right. Kidding.

quote:

Hilliard picked up 90+ yards in the 4th quarter vs Wisconsin. This photo is an example of how it wasn't exactly Hilliard making the difference.

Those were the only yards that mattered this year against the only real D we've faced. I know there was a nice hole on some of them, but Hilliard was the ball carrier and I'm not going to knock him for that. We can say everyone would do the same thing, but everyone didn't carry the ball - Hilliard did. LF got a pitch on 3rd and 3 in the 4th and was tackled for a 3-yard loss.

I didn't say there was a big gap, but Hilliard has looked the best to me if I'm being honest just based on what I've seen. He's looked fast and tough. Fournette is right there, but he had the fumbled pitch and a few other issues. He's young though and could break out at any moment as the clear #1. I'm just saying we don't have the Jeremy Hill-type running game yet.

This Moo State team is not that different from last years team and they wore down. I'm not saying it won't be a fight.

I don't think State is very deep. I think they will wear down.
