It’s not often that you see a lead off hitter get pulled for a pinch runner who makes a fatal mistake to end a game.
But that ball shouldn’t have been caught. The defense from down the bayou was fun to watch tonight (though frustrating if your shirt is purple).

I can’t think of a week of web gems where one or two plays from tonight wouldn’t make the cut. The game ending play should be linked to the Merriam-Webster definition of “hustle.”

That’s what I’m saying. I’ve never seen MLB teams have such an incredible defensive performance. It was almost fate that we’d lose that way. I still cannot get over how well Nichols played on defense.

LSU got f'cked by a St Amant kid, and then got f'cked over by a Dutchtown kid in the same inning.

Many of those kids were coached by Seth Thibodaux and he is a damned good defensive coach (pitching and hitting, not so much). A few years ago, Nicholls led the nation in double plays.

People will bitch about a loss and it stings but this is why you lace up your cleats and practice your arse off. It is why I witnessed 1A schools beat 4A schools like a drum before. It isn’t always about the best arm S it is about the best team. Teams with enough pitching and great defense will always be in games because they do not hurt themselves.
The SS made 2 absolutely incredible plays and an excellent play on that line drive that was smoked. The CF took 2 hits that would have been for extra bases with one resulting in one run minimum.
