Good lord. You people that think a legit 4.5 isn't that great kill me. That's Good speed for a anyone.

This. Let's not forget that LSU backs have been on display for 5 years now with the passing game being a joke. He will get a chance with an NFL team.

But when he gets it he finds the sideline every time. He's not a guy that can go between the tackles and stay in the hole. He always is looking for that sideline.

Playcalling had more to do with that than anything else. What is he supposed to do on a sweep besides hit the corner?

You guys are hilarious. If Ford goes to any other school and gets the lions share of the carries, he would be a 2nd round pick at worst.

He has great measurables and low wear on his tires. Ford might not get drafted high but he will do well in the NFL.

The guy proved that when he gets the rock that he can produce. He never got that chance on a consistent basis because he was stuck in a log jam with other future nfl picks.

Haha this is true. But, Ford doesnt run well between the tackles and thats where a RB in the NFL lives.

And i agree he does have great measurables, some of the best at the combine, but that doesnt translate to being a good football player. On paper, Ford is as good a talent and athlete as anybody in nation. On the field, hes hovering at the average line. Timid runner that does not like contact and looks to the sideline too much. Would not be a 2nd rounder wherever he played. He wouldnt be a 6-7th rounder like he is now, but doubt he would go ahead of the 3rd-4th.

As noted, I believe teams will value the fact he doesn't have a lot of wear & tear on him. That said, he's probably a late round pick.

ridley was a much better and completely different kind of college back than ford. i agree that 4.5 is a great time for a rb, but comparing him to what ridley did is irrelevant, except for the fact people freaked out on here that he was screwed with a time like that.

You all were idiots for thinking he'd run lower than 4.45 anyway

Ford has similar stats to Ridley. He may be a "different kind of back" but may have more versatility.

He had a great day today.

In addition to finishing 5th in the 40:

Finishes
- 3rd in Vertical Jump (38.5")
- 1st in the Broad Jump (130"). His broad jump is 5th best for the combine so far.
- 4th in the 60 yard shuttle (11.43s)
- t-5th in the 3-cone drill (6.87s)
- 11th in the 20 yard shuttle (4.25s)

Doing work.

ETA:

Almost forgot tied for 7th in bench reps with 25.

These results are among the group of 38 RBs total invited to the combine.

I didn't think he would run faster than a 4.4. I was disappoint at his 1st run that's all. Didn't think he would be in the 4.3s or anything. I was hoping he would run in the 4.4s and he did.

Ridley had almost as many yards in 2010 as Ford did in 3 seasons.

Their final numbers may be similar but that in no way reflects their careers at LSU.

Ford has a lot of potential and think his workouts have been great and will spark interest from several teams, but yeah any comparison to Ridley is pretty silly.

Completely different backs.

Ford started his career at LSU expecting to be tackled and going down way to easy. He pretty much corrected that his last year. Saying he can't run between the tackles might be a bit harsh considering the improvement he made in that department.

That said I still stand behind my assessment that his ball carrying ability is good enough. It is the other things that will determine his ultimate fate.
