Mentality of the New Coach

why is everyone so terrified of the "expectations" for the new coach? shouldn't a coach come in and "expect" to come in and do a better job than the guy who got fired?
did Saban say "well DiNardo couldn't win a title here so..." and decide not to take the job?
did Kerr take a look at Golden State last year and think "well clearly Mark Jackson couldn't get this team over the hump so I better join the Knicks."
these coaches are competitive. often they see teams loaded with talent and wonder what it would be like to coach them.
stop worrying about expectations and too much pressure on the coach. if he's worth his salt he ll see this team, this state and this recruiting class and set the bar just as high.
yes "the grass is always greener." but that s true with coaches too. and Les will testify that LSU has some of the greenest grass around.

What are your expectations for a new coach? You expect a higher winning percentage than Miles? Sec west title how often? Sec champion how often? Playoff participant how often? Minimum wins in any year?
Be specific.
Be specific.

Competence on offensive side of the ball and a defense that dont make me puke is what i expect of a new coach because that is what you dont have with Less right now.

That is the unsaid thing that gives us hope and outsiders don't understand.
Miles had the weapons but was snakebitten.

A coach that gears his offense towards the strengths of his talent and actually executes game plans for games or at the very least make in game adjustments when needed. If a coach is willing to do that he will be successful at LSU. I don't think a lot of people would have minded Les had he done those things. Peoples frustrations lie in knowing what potential our team has and how it has been handcuffed by poor coaching.

Miles isn't dead and buried quite yet.

my expectations are irrelevant. the point is that anyone taking this job should have expectations that exceed those of the fan base. he SHOULD expect to win. every year. or getting closer to that aim.
that's what the great one's expect.
and any coach scared off by expectations at a school as accomplished as LSU the past 15 years doesn't belong here. these coaches think they're the answer. why else would they volunteer for the job??
Miles task wasn't that he under-achieved based on our expectations. it's that he did by those he set for himself for the first 6 years of his career.
