9-9 in SEC last year...missed NIT.

8-8 in SEC so far this year...may make NIT?

Seems like we are more talented team this year but the results (unless we win SEC Tourney obviously) seem to be similar.

Thoughts?

Should also need to determine if the SEC is stronger or weaker this year vs last.

JJ needs to place more emphasis on D maybe make a hire to help him with that.

He has basically until Ben Simmons is done to do something, so we'll see.

I think we need to win three more games.

Players are better but that just makes the underperforming hurt worse.

its in neutral right now. let's re-evaluate next season's end at the earliest. lots of improvement in simple areas necessary.

Trent didn't exactly leave Johnny with much to work with. Johnny has done his best in two years to actually get out and start recruiting again. something Trent had no interest in doing. The SEC record would be even worse if Trent was still here.

With that said, this team was good enough in a weak conference and should've made the NCAA tourney. They lost some games they had no busy losing and it cost them this year. Johnny's in game coaching could have been better and it is paramount that his staff will have to have a good x/o guy on staff, not that much different than Dale when he was here.

SEC is only getting better and it will be important that in game coaching get better.

I think Johnny can handle the recruiting part of the job and is accessible to the fanbase and outside interests that you have to work to make LSU basketball successful since Trent did not embrace any part of this job and is close to being ousted at TCU.

The talent was NOT here when Johnny Jones came back to town. Johnny Jones does not walk on water. What does you realistically expect in year two? Give the guy a chance to get his recruits in here and to re-build this program to the way he needs it to be to become more successful.

We're going in the right direction IMO, but at a much slower clip and was expected.

All you need is one in basketball. We keep recruiting well the winning will happen.

That said, I'm disappointed in the road losses to bad teams (A&M, UGA, Bama especially) and Rhode Island. Just inexcusable.

Compare our team last year to this year for me. Absolutely no way both teams should go 9-9 with that talent disparity.

Eta: not saying fire him but there needs to be some accountability.

free throws and D but this is a young team, even JOB is young and still learning the game, only issue I have is with discipline on D but I expect that to be better next year

The talent disparity isn't that great from this year to last. Martin and Mickey will be great players but Martin needed/needs time to develop. We're still relying on the same core of players that lead us last year.

What this year team is missing is a guy like Charles Carmouche. Our perimeter players are extremely limited, which hurts you in the college game.

Still think the future looks bright.

I really feel we will be better team without JOB III. We have a team full of scores that can never catch a rhythm because ever time down the court Johnny has to touch the ball.

Talent level has increased. We had more luck on our side last year where this year the final shots havent fallen. Had the last shot to win against UK, Ole Miss and Bama and just missed. If we win those three we aren't having this conversation.

It sucks that we have underperformed this year, but the program is definitely going in the right direction. Hopefully we can figure out how to play defense next season and can make a very nice run in SEC play.

The talent difference is huge don't kid yourself. Team just basically shite the bed in every swing game this year with a chance to build momentum.

This is laughable.

We lose Tuba and Carmouche and pick up Martin and Mickey. That is vast right there, plus all other players had a year to improve. This season's team has so much more talent than last year. Just haven't made the final shot like we did a few times last year.

I think it is too early to tell. We are clearly much better in the recruiting department.

However, Jones seems to have regressed in the coaching department from last year. His in game coaching and leading that team to their record was amazing. It is sad alleva fricked them two ways to sunday by one not filling in our schedule and two denying us the chance at the CBI.

Jones has to do something about the effort on defense and our piss poor conditioning. He also has to improve on timeout use and just generally in game coaching.

Not headed in the right direction. Not that we are going in the wrong direction but just not going anywhere right now it seems.

Yes Martin and Mickey are great talents and will be better players. But people are underestimating what a player like Carmouche brings to the table. A bigger guard with playmaking ability has hurt this team

Recruiting wise? Yes.

Record wise? No. We have not improved from last season to this point, which is extremely bad considering how much better the team is this year talent/experience/depth wise.
