And before you dismiss as another media with an LSU bias, Ron was born in Baton Rouge. His father was SID for the 58 championship team. He can be seen on on the sidelines as a kid on his fathers shoulders during Cannon's run.

Higgins loves LSU, so I found his take interesting.

quote:

Stupid is as stupid does . . . again

LSU coach Les Miles must have the spot all picked out for his soon-to-be-built Jamaican vacation home.

Because after the decisions he has made the last two weeks -- including Saturday's fake field goal call with 29 seconds left that led to a first down and eventually Jarrett Lee's 3-yard TD pass to Terrence Tolliver with six seconds left in a 33-29 victory at Florida Miles must be trying to get himself fired to collect millions off his payout.

so he would have rather us tried a 53 yarder at the swamp to go to OT? than a play which allowed us a first down and TD to win in regulation?

i had no problem with the call, we had the right alignment and were on the correct hash.

The fake was the right call. They miss a long field goal and the game is over. Attaboy Les!

don't ask me. i applaud the decision. if 88 would have held his block, jasper may very well have scored.

on the road, you are supposed to play to win.

I told my son during the review that either way I would have no issues with the call. It isn't like a 53 yd FG is a given. He put the game in the kickers hand either way and playing for the win in a 50/50 position is always a good call to me.

Reb, I honestly think we as LSU fans have watched so many close calls over Miles' tenure here that we are somewhat numb to it. It doesn't even hardly register to me that Miles is doing something insane anymore because I have grown so accustomed to it. The close finishes are even starting to roll off my back because that is just how we roll.

No, we should have been throwing the ball instead of three runs. A play action pass to either tight end on 1st would have worked all second half.

I think you guys are missing the point.

It was absurd to have JJ in there, playing conservative for a 50+ yard FG.

We should have had Lee in there trying to either win the game, or getting better position for a shorter FG.

He's wrong. You play for the tie at home, but you go for the win on the road. Correct call by Les, and honestly, a brilliant play if Helton tosses it better and Clement picks up his block.

the fake wasnt a bad call, the off-tackle run play to try and pick up the first on the previous play was a bad call
