Why? He made a decision, which most of us thought was a terrible one, and now has to live with the consequences.

It's real life.

It's good to have stories like this to remind kids how the NFL promises nothing and you need to stay in school.

Trev Faulk was the all time worst.

He probably ends up on someones practice squad but I doubt he ever makes it.

I hate to say it but his biggest mistake was playing for a Less Miles coached football team.

Never let an opportunity to bash Les Miles , right?

So if he gets blame for Dupre does Miles get credit for:
Odell Beckham, Jarvis Landry, Dwayne Bowe, Reuben Randle, Brandon Lafell, Russel Shepard, Craig DAvis, and Early Doucet. You can't have it both ways.

I'm sorry. Are you trying to give les miles credit for Russell Shepard?

Had Shepard gone somewhere to play QB he may not be playing WR in the NFL today. Yes Les gets credit for having Shepard be an all around player. That's literally the only reason he's still playing in the NFL.

Still not as bad as Trev Faulk leaving early

Faulk already had his degree and ended up played 4 seasons in the NFL, thinking he did better than Dupree.

Shepard is the single most criminally underused offensive skill player in the les miles era. That's not even up for debate. more receptions last year in the NFL than his last 2 seasons combined at Lsu. Him being in the NFL is a testament to his work ethic and mindset, not because of anything les miles did for him.

He's not a football player; he's just an athlete. Staying another year wouldn't change that.

Your post is correct. He was going to be cut the next day at Tampa. Then Coach Smith saw him as a gunner laying a lick on the returner. They kept him, he worked his arse off, and he is gonna play some ball, In spite of how Miles misused him.

I'm not a Miles fan, but I have to say that Miles did all he could to give Shepard touches. Shep just wasn't good here. Bad routes, bad hands, no juke-ability, went down at first contact, and fumbled.

Clearly has improved in the NFL, but he just wasn't good here, and Miles gave him plenty of chances.

Pride is the downfall of many men. He left because he came in with Fournette and J Adams and they all said their freshman year they would leave after 3. Worked out for the other two....

You can still feel bad that he made such a poor decision that will haunt him for many years

Agreed...he HATED playing for Saban. Coming back wasn't going to help run any faster. He was a great player for LSU...just not fast enough for his position to make it long term in the NFL.
