It's a good job. Why are you arguing that it's not when it clearly is?
I'm not arguing Illinois is a bad job. I'm arguing that LSU is a good job and that, I already stated that Illinois is a better job then LSU, it is close to as good a job as Illinois is and we can pay more. I really get tired of everyone being so negative towards the basketball program. We have the resources to at least become the current Florida Gators of basketball.

We have only had like 4 SEC quality players come out of La. high schools since 2008
that simply isn't true.

If Illinois argued they were on our level as a football program, I would laugh. But this is basketball and they're a good program.

So you feel that Illinois produces better basketball players than Louisiana? I d have to see a link to verify that...... what do they have besides more people? I bet per capita we produce more nba players
it does not matter which state produces more per capita.
what matters is which produces ANY five star players and the answer is Chicago, IL. There are several great basketball cities in the state and if you got it rolling there, you could draw upon the Quad cities, Rockford, Chicago, Quincy, Springfield and the vast farms. Since we are talking about a state university flagship, they would draw from the entire state.
I doubt your assertion about per capita NBA results.
I am guessing Chicago alone beats all of Louisiana.
There is hardly any football in Chicago.
There are basketball courts all over town.

The last few years have been barren here as far as basketball talent goes.

What leads you to believe this? According to Tigerbait LSU was 10th in the conference in money spent(4.4 mil) on basketball last season.

Mississippi and La 2 and 3.

Why earl? Because I expect our ad to pay for a top coach?
no because you've obviously never heard Shaka Smart talk.
if he is going to move on from VCU, its going to be big time. Not LSU

We are capable of paying a lot more though.

'Per capita' is an irrelevant stat when determining how well a state really produces talent.

There are a lot more the 4 SEC guys though.

Realistic list
Johnny Jones
Kermit Davis
Would love to get Tony Bennett, he is my first choice, would be a great hire, I think we will have to throw the bank at him. We threw the bank at Caldwell so maybe we do the same for the men. JJ and Kermit would be a less than a million hire.
LSU will not hire a guy with no clue or experience with kids from the south again.

From 2007 but proves my point that Louisiana produces nba players at a top 5 rate.
Per capita doesn't mean shite in recruiting. If you have more options , you are better off. How hard is that to understand?

Yeah just dj augustin Greg Monroe and I could list about 5 more who contributed to final 4 teams.

True but that doesn't mean we're going to do it. Illinois offering 2.6 mil to a coach proves they would.

I just looked at rivals.com for the past basketball season.
There were 8 top 100 players from Chicago. One was 5 star. Davis.
There were NO top 100 players from Louisiana.
In addition to Chicago, Aurora, which is a close in suburb, had one top 30 guy, a high 4 star. And there was another one from northern Illinois in a city 200 miles from Chicago. 10 top 100, compared to NONE for Louisiana.
Guess what? If you look for football players from Chicago, its going to be the opposite. 40 top players from Louisiana and one or two from the Chicago suburbs and maybe one from the city.
Get over it. Louisiana does not compare even remotely to Chicago in basketball.
