I looked it up. Looked like the defense sucked that year as well.

That's about as close as you get to "I was wrong" on this board

Bo Pelini will likely get the first call.
Gene Chizik did work as DC at Auburn I think he gets the next call.

Clancy Pendergast is fired up

Third time to post this has to be the charm (others got anchored). Seems to be the home run candidate, to me. Bring Orgeron with him and make it a grand slam.

quote:I would call Dick Bumpus at TCU...I know "Bump" very well and he might just jump at the chance. I called him before we hired Chavis and he was open to dismissing it with LSU but they never called. Bumpus has been Coordinator of the year three times at TCU. Played at Arky, coached at Vandy with Parcels, and Notre Dame under Holtz and briefly at Utah State. He and Patterson are close at TCU but Patterson is making all the money. Very sound guy. Would be a terrific hire at LSU I think Bump would be an excellent hire. He has put together a great defense at TCU, look at them now. Plus TCU doesn't pull near the talent LSU does. I think he'd shine here and fit in well, I like his style of football.

Good idea. Most of the parts are here to run the type of defense Bumpus is familar with, the 4-2-5.

I am not a huge fan of the 4-2-5 though.

I don't think O will come for just a d - line coaching position regardless of what people say. If we want him we will have to hire him at DC. I think he would do just fine with the talent he can pull from this state over the next few years.
