How many picks did the Astros have between Aiken and Marshall?
I don't know how many the Astros had but there were 615 picks between Aiken and Marshall.

ETA: I just looked it up. The Astros had 19 picks between Aiken and Marshall.

And will Nix end up settling for a certain amount, knowing the Astros may have enough to pay Marshall more than him? I am sure his agent will watch all the signings to make sure that doesn't happen.

I think Marshall will more than likely sign with the Astros, but I'm sure every advisor/agent for all of their picks after Aiken are WELL aware of his under slot deal and will do everything they can to get some of those savings for their kids.

To simply assume that it will all be applied to Marshall is naive

He won't be as bad as Lee. Lee was coming in to save football too.

I disagree. I don't think Lee ever went on social media and pumpd the fanbase up with pro-LSU tweets.

kind of sad it's come to that (I don't even have twitter), but he shouldn't have tweeted #Omaha2015 if he knew there was still a chance he could be offered the money he's looking for.

it's pretty simple. all he had to do was not fire the fanbase up and create that much hype and promise. just lay low until the dust settles

It seems to me that there are a whole lot of gm's around here. Y'all are acting like negatigers! Expecting the worst. I'm optimistic that Marshall will be a Tiger! Thanks to the op for being a positiger!

Why shouldn't he be excited to come to LSU right now? I think he probably is 100% locked into coming to LSU, but once negotiations start, if the Astros drop a huge number on him, well, things change. And if that happens, like it did with Lee, I wish him the best.

Oh, wait, I mean THIS IS BULLCRAP! How could he!?!? Rabble rabble rabble

I'm not saying I will join the collective tiger rant melt. Just saying that he now has thousands of fans penciling him in as a starter next year. the psyche of the fan base is pretty fragile right now after our recent post season woes. it's not surprising a good bit of fans are clinging on to locking down this class for the sake of their fanhood

I'm suggesting that maybe he could have been more selective with his words and not have so many fapping to the idea of Omaha in 2015

I'll probably have a little melt if he doesn't come. Not gonna lie.

I'm certainly not going to melt, but I am not going to deny that I'd be really frustrated. it's our turn to catch some big breaks with the draft. I can't fault the kid for taking 1.4 mill, just will be mad at how the process works as far as monetary aspects and how they leave colleges with so much uncertainty

I mentioned Jacob Nix several times in this thread and in the mlb draft thread that is up top. Nix already has a slot value of 350,000 to work with so he will cost the Astros less out of their signing pool. A lot of people also expect him to sign for 800 or 900 thousand.

Did you just start following the Stro's? As a long time fan I remain optimistic, but they have a long history of doing things that don't pan out. So to say what they will do will only lead one down a disappointing path

These are the only Stros I can get behind.

I wish that the word or any form of the word FAP would go away... It's used way too much and it's not clever funny anymore. Some people need to find some new material...

It's kind of creepy too

As soon as I saw the Stros took Marshall, I knew it would be a long wait until July 18th. I'm hoping Nix commands a lot of that Aiken savings and that leaves not near enought to sway Marshall from LSU. However, Houston has done a great job of signing their picks the past 3 years under Lunhow, so I would expect them to make the numbers work as best as possible, which does scare me a lot. I'm at a win-win being an LSU alum and Houston native, but I would rather him go to college a few years then turn into a 1st rounder under AD. IMO, which holds as much weight as air, Marshall would ultimately be leaving money on the table by signing this year. I couldn't fault him for taking $1.4 mill, but I do see him as a Gausman or Nola clone. Fingers crossed until July 18th.
