Is he still 6’6 & 315 lbs? Y’all obviously don’t understand how the draft works

Uh, that gets you exactly nowhere in the NFL. Imagine being responsible for a team’s draft picks and making the case to the GM that this guy warrants a draft pick.

First down pick, what does that do for LSU now. The guy is lazy and does not try very hard, look at the film. He gets pushed around like a 200 pounder trying to play defense tackle. Smith needs to sit the bench waiting for his first round ticket, because that is what I think he is doing.

No one on this defense is playing on Sundays at this rate.

It’s time for Jordan Jefferson take that spot for the majority of snaps.

Nah

Why not? Have you watched the games? Jefferson should at least be getting more snaps than he is currently getting.

T-Bob

T-Bob also said on W&W several times Saturday night that he's never seen LSU's D-line play 1 to 2 yards off the LOS. T-Bob supposedly breaks down film with Hester every Monday morning. The problem with that is LSU/House has literally been doing that since the first FSU game 1.5 years ago against shotgun teams. T-Bob has ZERO credibility in my book now, I tried to give him the benefit of the doubt when others called him a drunk jester. I was wrong, they were right.

Smith was better as a Freshman than he is now. Got to be a combination of not being 100% after the injury and really poor technique. Same with Perkins taking those wide rushing lanes. It looks like our DL has been getting zero coaching this fall. Hopefully Pete can help to some degree. I’ve seen Penn play better than he did Sat but he’s not a starting LB on top SEC defenses. Right now, the only players we have that you might see start for an Alabama or Georgia defense is Wingo and Perkins. Maybe Harris. That’s not good.

I wasn’t impressed with him last year when he tore up his knee celebrating a play against FSU.

Perkins is getting bodied on every rush unless he comes unblocked. Our dumb arse fans keep reciting the same line "let him do what he did last year" not looking at the field and realizing he is. He played a glorified DE role in the 4th and didn't do shite with it. He can't cover zone, blitzs every play wide leaving a MASSIVE hole for their team to run through. He has 0 stunts, no swim move, no spin, he has no power at 220 lbs to bull rush anyone. Their RB took him off his feet once. He couldn't bring down the QB, so he just handed the ball off for a 4 yard gain.

Sanity. Thank you.

I cannot accord any credit to T Bob, either.
But, it doesn't take an expert to see how poorly Maason Smith is playing. They ran right at him and he had one tackle for the game. Only seven for the year.
He was one of my favorite players. I thought he would be a great DL. He has proven me wrong.
Just think how bad we would be if Wingo had not taken a flyer after a great Freshman season at Mizzou and transferred here...

The first couple of hours of OTB have been great this morning. Hester and T-Bob have access to the all 22 film and spend hours reviewing on Sundays.

I agree, he's like a stiff upright robot out there. At least get your paw up and try to affect the throwing lane or deflect a pass if you're not getting great push, I don't even see him doing that. He's basically like a liability out there.

Yeah we might give up 700 yards in a single game or something...

To his defense…he’s never really
Been coached. He transitioned from O to Cain to Lindsey, to no one. Add into that two or three injuries.

Guy needs a year to be healthy and really work with a proper coach.

I’d expect him back next season

Can the coaches just admit what almost everyone here knows- Masson Smith is a bust. He was over-hyped and has never played up to his potential

That’s not really fair.

He had a really good true freshman year and looked really, really good in 1 series bs Florida state.

Not easy for a guy his size to come back from a major knee injury.

Injury does not equal bust.
