Shanahans only shot starting is at center, but im not convinced hes good enough. I think if he won the spot, Hines would start at guard. He's a former starter there, albeit only for a few games.

On Tuesday, Harvard graduate transfer Liam Shanahan signed with the Tigers to bolster its offensive line. At 6-foot-5, 310 pounds, Shanahan was an All-Ivy league first team talent and started 30 straight games while a member of the Harvard offensive line.

We're going to be mid-season and people are still going to be saying Shanahan is 270.

Cregg was on off the bench this morning

He said they are bringing Shanahan in to compete, to give these guys a push & to have another veteran in the room. He didn’t really mention a position. They lost 5 guys and had to bring in a 4th

Says he’s been talking to him for a few weeks now. He interviewed his position coach, they had moffit call the strength coach. No one said a bad word about him. Thinks his strength numbers will translate. Has a 400+ bench & can clean north of 350lbs.

Says Marlon Martinez & Dumervil have been working out together. Said they might be the hardest working freshmen he’s had

Speaking of Hines, he didn’t sound too confident in him. Said when he came in in 2018 to play, he battled. Said they have to restore that

Then spoke on Rosenthal. Really really talked him up. Works hard, he’s smart. Didn’t really speak to his time away.

I’m listening to Shanahan interview now.

Nothing interesting here

Shanahan has never been to BR. Wanted to use his grad transfer to grow as a player & person.

Asked him his most comfortable position. He dodged the question & just said he can play any where

Never been to the south outside of Florida. Never been to an SEC game. Speaks of Boston College as his highest experience

I expect Shanahan have the ability to play anything on the line sans maybe LT. If he cant grab a starting spot, he will be the usual 6th man swiss army knife probably. Sounds like he could challenge for the center spot if there's not a ton of confidence in Hines. More of a learning curve, but he's a smart dude I imagine

I expect it to look something like Deculus,(new transfer) Shanahan,Chasen Hines, Ed Ingram, and Dare Rosenthal. Kardell Thomas will also have a shot at starting over Ingram or Shanahan. But Deculus has the ability to move around the line and has the most experience. Dare Rosenthal is the most physically imposing. Ed Ingram when playing has been a good player. Chasen Hines will do Fine at Center. So Id expect Shanahan as a 4 year graduate and 1st team ivy league Olineman with the ability and Intangibles at 6'5 to move from tackle to guard to get the last spot over Kardell thomas.

Get outta here with this larger rinse repeat the OL is suspect crappola

Don’t you have an ugly old broad willing to pee in a fan and give you a GOLDEN SPRINKLE to change your outlook!

Try it loser!

We are three friggin deep at that OL with the best OL coach in CFB creaming his sweatsuit over his options!

We got a Liam Shanahan at Center OG OT that’s going to be drafted by the NFL for his versatility AND HE WONT EVEN BE STARTING

Dumb post of the week

If shanahans starts at C, I still think Hines will start over Bradford at G, despite some recent nitpicking about his weight, etc... Otherwise, I agree.

Lester Earl,

Hines is a road grader at OG.

At Center, it’s a totally different game for Hines at center and he struggled with the playcalling.

We’ll be fine but I’d rather see Hines back at his natural OG spot and see a more natural Center in there — We have two behind Shanahan!

Shanahan and Evans and Turner give LSU a 3-Deep Center Line-up that’s a winner!

Evans played center at Haynesville (both OL & DL) and is a natural — At 6’1 - 319 he’s perfect at Center with athleticism of a DL

Evans also was the 666th ranked player — Don’t overlook that SUPER DEVIL JUICE

Turner is also a pure Center recruited by Cregg out of IMG Academy FB factory

I think Shanahan competes and gets the nod at Center (just a hunch) and that’s bad news for the SEC with:

4 OGs — Ingram, Hines, Thomas, Bradford
4 OTs —Rosenthal Deculus Wire Dumerville

Nobody is going to get thru a James Cregg OL with that much talent and coaching —

And they’ll have plenty practice with the FOUR DEEP DLs/DEs bombing them in practice

Cregg could be looking at another Joe Moore Award in 2020 — Hell if he don’t win it he’ll be in Top 5 again and that’s good enough for us.

Ree,

I agree. Welcome to last week, Hoss.

LT Rosenthal (MERC)
LG Ingram (MERC)
C Shanahan or Evans
RG Hines
RT Deculus

Remember a few years ago when LSU had dick for o line depth?

If they can land an elite LT this cycle, we will be set for the long haul.

Next year
Thomas/Bradford next year at G
Turner at C
Wire or Dumetville at RT

I think Earl is right. Shanahan is just the guy to bring in to be a stopgap at center. Hopefully he's a guy who is hungry to prove himself and can handle a lot of pressure on his shoulders. Undoubtedly, he's smart enough to get the calls right, he just needs to be a leader and someone who can congeal this line. That's probably what O saw in him. O's kinda brilliant at filling needs not only with talent, but with guys whose willpower supercedes limitations in talent.

O actually was told we should get him and said OK I'll trust you to the guy who found him. I forgot but I think it was an analyst that found him
