Take away the special teams play in the UF game and the score might have looked a whole lot more lopsided.

Wait we don't have to play special teams anymore this year?

I do think Mills is going to help this pass defense a lot. Aside from replacing Thomas who has been picked on at times, he'll help the whole unit with assignments. His impact will be more than just his play.

Thoughts are 07 and 11 are two of the toughest schedules LSU has ever played. Don't have to be as good as those teams, But I don't see arky and UK putting up 50 points on us, don't see any team doing that.

This team has gotten better on offense and the front 7. This team has work to do on special teams and the back 5 on defense and agree Mills should make a big difference for this championship caliber team.

When we learn to stop a 4th down conversion attempt it will be even better.

They did a much better job with FL than previous teams.

The 2007 defense struggled a lot in the 2nd half of the season. In the last 7 games of the regular season, outside of LA Tech, they gave up at least 24 to every team. 50 to Arky and 43 to KY in the losses. This 2015 defense isn't perfect, but's it good enough to win it all as long as the offense continues to be as efficient as they have been. Also, the special teams HAS to help out with field position.

I gave Pelini a LOT of credit for how he covered up deficiencies in the secondary in 07. We had 2 good corners, but not a ton of speed in the secondary. A couple of analysts even noticed early in the season that we were playing backup safties at Nickle and Dime.

The amazing front 7 below to keep them from getting exposed early, but things changed after Dorsey got hurt. Mobile QBs did damage, and Arkansas was just a horrendous matchup.

Considering the depth concerns and injury issues, I see that defense as the closest to this years. They were more experienced, overall, but had to overcome issues to get he job done.

If the staff can get Mills back at full strength, get Bower more rotation mins, and get the coverage busts worked out, we could see a similar end result. We can definitely win with a "flawed" D if the O can keep improving at their current rate.

I know our defense will improve every game this season.
