Cut his completion percentage on short passes in half. Bama had been killing teams with the RAC all year. LSU manned up and used linebackers to eat up passing lanes. They gave up a few lucky and not so lucky deep balls, but they made Bama work for every damn yard.

Exactly!
This is what's being lost on everyone. Our corners played their receivers man to man in press coverage most of the night. Yes, they gave up some big plays. But they pretty much shut down that "vaunted" slant game we'd been hearing about ad nauseum. Additionally, we held Bama UNDER THEIR SCORING AVERAGE. I'm happy with the defense.

We don't play Bama at Bama every week. And we also have a pretty decent QB as well

Well. One was just a gimmick play.

The other was legit albeit fricking retarded on Aranda's part.

Tua was 44% on 20+ yard attempts, for the season he’s close to 70%. We had 3 missed chances on deep throws that players messed up on and 1 where we got fooled on the trick play.

1st big play- they run a fake check, cause they saw on film that we check when the offense does and it worked. That’s neither player nor call.

2nd- 1 on 1 Smith vs Stingley with Stingley in great position but he turns to find the ball then turns the wrong way coming back. That’s the players fault.

3rd- the wheel route to Harris, Queen is in perfect starting position but he runs straight at the line of scrimmage taking a horrible angle and can’t recover to make the play. Players fault.

4th- 85 yard TD late, Stingley is in man free bailout coverage with help at both levels to the middle of the field but gets beat outside and deep. Players fault.

Guys if you don’t know what’s going on don’t bash coaches.

not true. He's under 50% on passes more than 10 yards. Burrow is over 60%

we knew they were gonna score points on us regardless coming in, as they would on any defense in the country. our defense balled the frick out yesterday. great game called by aranda aside from the long TD to smith at the end of the game. being in anything other than prevent in that situation is a head scratcher

They don’t know what’s going on, they just automatically want to fire whoever is in charge of the particular unit in question. These clowns that blame all on Aranda just don’t have much football knowledge. Now I’m not saying I’m some football guru either but damn I can at least see that everything that bad happens on D isn’t Arandas fault and there is way more good than bad. I mean we lost our veteran LB days before the game to top it off and still dominated Bama in the first half.

First off I am not even close to being in the "Fire Aranda!!!" Camp, but you can admit that the defense had errors in the second half without thinking DA needs to be fired.

We should have made adjustments when up 20 that allowed more underneath and protecting against the long bombs. That was the only way the could make it close and we never adjusted from our slant prevention scheme. Yes it killed Tua in the first half and allowed us the ability to have the 20 point lead, but once Alabama adjusted and started looking for openings downfield we should have corrected.

I don't see it as a massive issue but yes I would expect better from a DC the quality of Aranda.

I believe we will see the defense return to form over the next few years as recruiting fills holes in our depth.

I have no loss of faith in our coaching staff.

It's a great day to be a Tiger!

You just want to shite on Aranda no matter what. If we would have shut down the big plays (which we really did except for a couple times) you would be complaining that Aranda didn't shut down the short passing game and it almost cost us the game.

For whatever reason you just dislike Aranda. So tell us all how Aranda blew it and then explain what the better defensive formation would have been. Besides the one at the end which we all agree was dumb tell us your take on how to better position the defense to stop the TDs that happened.

Most of the time.

But third and long or 4th and long is his Achilles.

shite man let’s see if I can get it right 85 on the late pass, 32 on the Smith catch 1 on 1 vs Stingley, 64 on the phony check with me and 15 on the Harris TD. I thought the last one was a little longer my bad. That’s 196 on those 4 breakdowns that’s 49 yards per play.
