And Tamu wont be number 1 if they win. if Oregon wins, they will be. Geezum

Yes - but after this game, TAMU or Bama will be ranked #1 and be national recognized as the team to beat. It's important implications for LSU.

So are you saying that either A&M or Alabama will probably be ranked when LSU plays them later in the year?

How could this weekend's game be more important to LSU than its games against either one of these opponents?

As my old man used to say, "Yeah but me no yeah buts."

you are believing the hype. BOTH of them only play two contenders; themselves and LSU. we could beat them both and still lose the west. and since we play them both who cares who wins? in all likelyhood we'll have to beat them both and only lose one game to somebody else. quite a difference in scheldule, that's for sure. and before some of you jump my arse and call me a whiner, i speak the truth. if all LSU had to do to win the west was to beat one of these two we'd our odds of being in atlanta would go up tremendously.

Well, that's just stupid.

We have to play both teams. The result of this game is relatively meaningless if we don't take care of business against BOTH of them.

No just no.! LSU could beat both and lose to their two East opponents and realistically finish third in West.

Actually that's not possible (assuming you mean LSU wins the rest of it's West games). One of the two teams would have a loss from the head to head and would lose a tie breaker due to a loss to LSU.

Well, no fricking shite.

I realize it's the matchup of the weekend but it really doesn't matter to LSU who wins this game. We have to play them both.

We need A&M to win because Bama has an easy schedule, and this is really one of the 2 chances they have a losing this year. I'm not sure why anyone would pull for Bama in this one. On the LSU side of things that is.

This game is irrelevant to LSU's divisional title hopes. Way too early to matter one way or the other.

I would say LSU vs. Bama is our biggest game. If we win out no games besides ours will matter.

This is the biggest game of the year for LSU fans. These two teams are hovering over us in the national spotlight. Good news is - one of them loses. Either way, it's beginning to feel like TAMU/Bama is being positioned as the SEC West matchup that will determine LSU's fate in the West.
