IMO the other thing we lack is a home grown leader.

There’s something about kids raised in this state, product of hard working parents amid hard environments, that breeds a special kind of leadership.

I haven’t given it much thought but I bet going back over the championship years there’s a Dugas or a Barbier on every one.

I could be wrong, but i doubt dugas or beloso came from hard environments, at least not the kind im thinking.
I dont think any of it is specific to louisiana.

Elko is fron new jersey and did it at ole miss.

Tanner allen and rowdy jordan did it from alabama

Im sure i could keep going back and finding more

Absolutely. They always want what they haven’t seen before. They generally overvalue incoming recruits too.

I mean he was good enough to get drafted in the 2nd round despite injury. If you are trying to prove that 2021 was a poor recruiting class, Grant Taylor isn’t really a great example

No there isn't. It just makes for a good narrative when it happens.

Dylan Crews, Tommy White and Paul Skenes were the lifeblood of LSU last season. None of them probably could've told you where Baton Rouge was until they came to LSU.

Top-end talent backed by a veteran roster is and will continue to be the recipe for success in college baseball.

For sure. You hit on a few & they expect every one to be Jacob Berry or Tommy white. This place is never rational but it’s been pretty disappointing this season with terrible takes & expectations

I was stunned that a solid percentage of the rant thought Braswell was going to come in and hit 10 homers.

Looking at that list and the current roster, some of the Johnson high school recruits really need to make a big jump next year or it may be worth taking a closer look at what he’s actually getting to campus outside of the transfers.

I think it’s because some people will listen to one person on Baton Rouge radio say something and take it as the word of god. I bet there was an LSU media member that said that Jay would fix him so he’d be able to have more power and they ran with it. Just like they’ll listen to someone hype up the DL before the season because Bo Davis is coaching them now.

Before people get pissed, that’s not a knock against Jay or Bo, it’s just that they aren’t miracle workers..

Lsu didn't really get the big time transfers this cycle.

Montgomery went to a&m.

To me this year was always going to be a down year.

Johnson is going to have to hit on some guys out of high school.

We didn’t after guys, we just didn’t land everyone.

a&M and Florida went in hard.

I think we were really after Montgomery. still you’re definitely right, as some point you gotta try and coach guys you recruit out of HS.

Is the premise of this thread that we're struggling because of the lack of juniors/seniors? Or that just pointing out that the 2022 signing class has proven to be lean?

How do the number of seniors/juniors we have compare with other schools? I suspect we're pretty close. We're still benefiting from the Covid year with Milazzo and Travinski.

IMO, the biggest factor in our SEC games has been players one would expect to have taken a step forward have regressed instead (Kling (obvious), Neal, Pearson, Hurd, Guidry, Ackenhasuen).

This team has been oh so close to winning games and it would be hard for it not to improve going forward.

Noticed Arkansas had a ton of Senior starters this past weekend.

This is very reasonable.

Bucknam, Cam Johnson, and Kucherak are the only ones contributing currently that committed once Johnson was here.

Shores contributed last year and will next year. Noot should be back soon if reports are to be believed.

But a lot of his guys at this point are developmental, it seems.

I'm pretty sure they had one position player starter that began his career there.
