Don't forget Rutgers. C. Viv has bottomed out at 6-23 this season.

I was dumbfounded when I saw that, I am assuming they lost a lot of players from last year. That along with iffy recruiting might be it. She's a very good coach, not sure how much longer she will be there.

I don't know if it will ever be possible to be on the level of uconn as long as geno is around. I mean if they don't lose this year, zero chance in hell I see them losing next two years really unless something goes really bad. They have ridiculous class coming in next year.

I think if she can get another top 20 class in this coming year she can right this ship. With the adequate talent, she can mold a very dangerous team. Her teams always play very good defense. If we can get some a couple more elite posts players with better shooters I think she will be very successful

It's basically the same situation as us last year with their best player getting hurt but they've fallen off ever since Imus.

With the amount of money the program loses, they should be bussing under the radar.

I think this incoming class is very different from other years classes.
The 5 star prospect from New Jersey is very versatile and can score. Nikki says she really believes she can easily be SEC freshman of the year. Having her and Mitchell will be an excellent combo.

If I am not mistaken, I think Pointer is Nikki's niece. She is ranked in the top 15 by prospect nation. She is apparently an elite point guard. She can slash the lane and score, I think she is still working on her perimeter game.

The two other guards,Jailin Cherry and Dekeryia Patterson, though they are 3 star prospects were highly recruited and under the radar.
Jailin cherry was recruited heavily by Louisville and other ACC schools. Shes apparently the real deal.

Both players apparently can shoot the three as well. Of all things this team desperately needs this. Having shooters on the outside will be extremely helpful and make it easier for Moncrief to penetrate inside.

It looks like you are a Fargas sympathizer. I go back to the UCONN game where we couldn't even stay on the court with them. That is what you need to hold the program against when measuring. To be the best, you must beat the best.

Of all criticisms this one is ridiculous. Name one program that is on the same level as UCONN right now. This year is a complete rebuilding year for them, not much depth (literally playing 5/6 players max) and a lot of new faces and yet, they still are dismantling everyone they have played. Yes they played some closer games than usual, going on the road to Maryland, playing Baylor, USCe. But no one is on the same field as them. It won't get any better next year either. They return their core, adding the number one player in the country along with a few other elite players.

Until Geno retires... its

UCONN

Baylor, Maryland, USCe, Notre Dame, Florida State, Duke

This team can definitely get to an elite level but we HAVE to recruit. I am not defending Nikki, I am pretty dissapointed where we are, we have been average under her tenure but not horrible either. Using the UCONN game alone is not really the best for comparison tbh.

UCONN has won 103 straight games, so use another example.

I am no Gino fan by any stretch of the imagination, but he said after that game that, paraphrasing, the LSU program was not even night & day in talent compared to previous yrs. His point was that it goes beyond being comparable to the past yrs, it's not even close. And I thought her contract runs out this year? If not, when does it expire?

Also believe Nikki should receive another season at LSU, for reasons cited above.

Plus, we would not want Alleva to strain himself by requiring that he find two new round ball coaches this spring.

Don't you guys get tired of re-hashing the same discussion after every game?

Nikki isn't going anywhere after this season. She'll get at least one more season. This year's team is light years better than last year. Next year we have a top 20 recruiting class and return Mitchell, Moncrief, and Jackson. This will be a very good team. But whoever is on here trying to use UConn as the measuring stick needs to get their head examined. NOBODY is competing with them at this point, until Geno retires.

This is what finally did it for me (has me wanting her gone)...I do see the upside for next year, however this is her 6th year...so she has had time...in the end Im fine she is back, prefer she is not, but not sure who we would hire...as for trying to be like UCONN, they are perhaps the greatest dynasty of all time..any sport...so that is not practical...we should aspire to be top 3-4 in SEC every year (as we were for 10+ years under 4 different coaches!) and on this front NF has fallen short...

She's one of those four coaches that had LSU 3-4 in the SEC though. She needs to improve next season definitely. A decent showing in the SEC tourney and a few wins in the NCAA tourney will go a long way, but next year should be a make-or-break year for her.

not really, she has never been better than a tie for 4th and 4/6 years 6th or worse. My four coaches who did get us there were Sue, Pokey, Van and Bob (I realize I am being technical here), but Bob was the interim coach that took team to FF after Pokey was outed, so to sepak

The thing is she hasn't really done that poorly but she isn't accomplishing what we sought out to. She has been the epitome of average. She

The question is what is the goal/bar for this program? Are we content average but not horrible?

Just to make the tourney?

Win the SEC?

I think she will always have decent teams but for this program to get to the next level. She HAS to recruit better every year
