Not really. Depends on the results of the conference tourney and the NCAA tourney. Van Chancellor's last year was 20-14(8-8) no NCAA tourney.

I wouldn't necessarily disagree. I don't think she's accomplished what she was hired (and well compensated) to do. There doesn't seem to be any excitement around WBK anymore. Not that there was much to begin with, but the last years of Sue and the Pokey years there was at least some.

But what is frequently overlooked with WBK is that the slide of the program started with Chancellor. And with the exception of last season Fargas has at least maintained the level of the program she inherited.

ahh not so much so...and really not true
Van 4 years ....90-40, 41-19 sec, a Final Four 3 NCAA's two 2 rounds, even taking out his first year (we he had 7 seniors-so he had to rebuild after that) he went 59-34 and 27-19 in SEC, his WORST year he went 8-8 and we should have gotten in NCAA's... NCF 111-80, 48-48 in a MUCH weaker SEC,

and as far as SEC VC was 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 5th...NCF 4,6,6,4,13!, 8!.....

So take out Van's year one and his % are 59% vs 50% and 70% vs 58%

Van needed to go and NCF came in with great promise..she has failed IMHO, but will likely be back..and will do better next year, but no where near where we should be..

If she was told she had to win(like CJJ), she did. Has to mean something. She gets one more year IMO! She is also better to look at than Van was.

No way. Van's last year only 2 SEC teams were ranked and only 4 went to the tourney. There's two ranked in the top 5 now and 9 might get in. Tennessee, Vanderbilt, and UGA are worse now but S. Carolina, Kentucky, and Miss St. have more than stepped into that void along with adding A&M and Mizzou.

Nikki benefitted her first two years from getting to play home games the first two rounds in the tournament, a legacy earned by the success and attendance just a couple of years removed from her getting here.

That privilege has been lost and now it will be a bit tougher to go to someone else's house. We'll likely be a 9 seed and have to play a 1 seed at their place in the second round if we make it that far.

saintsfan22...you as always, make very good points, was not aware of your SEC notes, having said that I still feel she has done a very poor job...but if she gets one more year Im fine and wish her the best...I would be curious how you rate her 1-10 on her job over 6 years to date...for me a 3-4, and that is not good enough...

I think she has earned another year. Next year is put up or shut, return Moncrief, Jackson, Mitchell along with an elite class. If she has an average year wit a subpar recruiting class she as to go. Its really a shame, if she could recruit top 20-25 classes every year, not saying you have to have a top ten class every year, but at least have solid classes, she would be much more successful and its a shame because she can coach.

This year alone doesn't warrant a firing, but I expect better efforts on the recruiting trail because that aspect has been unacceptable. I think she had a wakeup call, she will be fired unless she picks it up on the trail. hiring demoss was definitely big, she is considered one of the top recruiters in the game. We will see tho

I'm not here to defend her. She hasn't met the expectation that was placed on her when she was hired, but she hasn't done a very poor job. She's been the very definition of average. She should get another year to show that she can rise above that.

Right now, Charlie Creme has them as an #8 seed in the Baylor region. In my opinion, winning a game or two in the SEC tournament is huge because that could bump them up to a #7 seed and keep them away from the top teams in the 2nd round.

We all have our opinions on Fargas and this team should be four games better than their record (close losses with a late lead to A&M, Georgia, Auburn, and Vandy), but they will go dancing.

As far as her contract, if you have any issues with the amount of money paid to Fargas, look at the contract given to Chancellor.

Pokey had a 4 Year Deal worth 250,000 per year!

LSU hired Chancellor to a 660,000 per year contract.

In the age of Title IX, there was no way in hell LSU was going to sign a female coach and underpay her for the same position. Skip, in his last year, and the Senior Women's Administrator at that time, Judy Southard, made the deal and this is where we are.

If Fargas leaves, then there is an opportunity to change the Salary, but if you want a big time coach, then the salary is gonna need to be right.

She was about to leverage the opening at Florida for a big pay raise. Like 3 hours after ESPN reported Florida was coming after her for the job the shite hit the fan.

Major difference between the men and women right now is that at least the women's program has a future that appears to be bright. Good season this year, with next year even better if things go as planned. Of course she gets another year to keep it up. A change now would be borderline retarded.

To me, the men's program is several years away from decency, regardless of who the coach is. That situation is FUBAR and there is no quick fix.

Not excusing anything that has happened here, but a number of perennial powers have faded the last few years. North Carolina, Michigan State, Duke, Tennessee, and Penn State, just to name a few, are a shell of their former greatness. It goes in cycles. I hope next year is the year we jump back in the scene for consistent Sweet 16 appearances. I fear an 8 or 9 seed this year that means we will have to beat a #1 at their place. Next year we need to win the close games that we gave away this year. This team is so close to being 23- 6 it's not even funny. As the poster above mentioned...4 road games where they had decent leads and they couldn't close.

Don't forget Rutgers. C. Viv has bottomed out at 6-23 this season.
