He almost single handedly beat us tonight. In that situation, you pitch around him. You pick the lesser of two evils. He could very well be 0-fer tomorrow. But this was like us pitching to Orvis in extra innings.

Oh the horror, what would we do without a regular season championship?

What are you talking about hindsight for? I'm talking about pitching to a guy late who's killing it.

What happened tonight? After scoring 2 in the 1st in Friday's game, they only have 2 runs in 17 innings.

If he would have gotten out his last at bat, then we don't have this discussion.

In baseball, your odds are 2-1 to get the guy out on average..at worst. Someone who is hot, I'm sure the odds change to 1-1..but then you still dont want to intentionally walk someone who can steal second easily.

You still haven't given a valid way to pitch to this guy...

you can pitch to him if you get the guys out who bat before and after him.

He can't steal second if someone is there already. You pitch around him in an RBI situation. It's pretty simple. I don't know what you don't understand.

Yes, you are right. In that situation we walk him, further proven that we see that he singled in a run. But this whole conversation is about tomorrow..not sure how you already know that there will be a runner on second base when he comes up to bat tomorrow.

Also, you still haven't given your expert idea on how to "pitch around" this guy when this is clearly someone you don't want to walk.

Throw offspeed for strikes, and keep fastballs low and away. Bain left fastballs high and paid the price.

Are you not reading what I post? I started with "with runners on" and keep talking about RBI situations. I'm not suggesting we intentionally walk him every AB. And "pitching around" someone is pretty self explanatory. Do you not understand the concept?

it is an important game (if we actually play it) but we can still win the SEC even if lose today.

don't forget 2008 LSU was 6-11-1 going into the 7th series of the SEC season, we go on a 12 game SEC winning streak are 18-11-1 win the SEC W (I think the sec too) win the SECt get a top 8 seed and make it to Omaha and go 1-2 in Omaha.

Baseball is a crazy sport like that, we need this game today but the SEC isn't lost with a loss today.

Do you two really think that we meant to pitch him these letter-high fastballs?
