Tons of mature returning talent and a great class coming in. If we wait, we will be in a Texas mess for years. #NowIstheTime #NoMoreLes

You are correct..

1. Salary of the head coach and staff will match any school in the country.
2. Facilities are Top tier.
3. Committed fan base(Can also be a negative but true of ANY major program)
4. No in-state recruiting competition for best per capita recruiting talent in the country.

They are a bit light at LB and the QB situation is an unknown but the right hire can bring in a QB and convert talent to linebacker.

On the surface it seems like a negative thing, but the possible lack of objection and current contract obligations for the OC and somewhat the DC is something that an established HC would find attractive too. That is often a big obstacle.

Agreed. So Cal will be the top job to get this year as much as I hate them.

While I think Miles needs to go, there are hardly any examples of hiring a successful replacement for someone with Miles' track record.

The new coach ends up being less successful than the predecessor far more often than not. To say I'm concerned is putting it mildly.

Solid argument can be made for So Cal but they've had back to back coaches fired and just feel like more of a mess to clean up and get going back in the right direction.

Think Florida/McElwain but with more and better returning talent. LSU is literally plug and play for the right coach to have the Heisman favorite and win the NC is their first year.

Not since Coker has this opportunity presented itself...another reason this hire is so important.

Committed fan base

Until the first time the team gives up a touchdown or has to punt or the kick doesn't go out the back of the end zone. The fans start bailing out faster than rats on a sinking ship. We have the worst fan base in the country. The above listed reasons is why Tiger Stadium atmosphere is no longer the same.

And their AD might be retiring due to health. Probably not a huge problem, especially for a private school with lots of cash and a large department, but is an added complication and may slow their process down a little.

if you are serious I don't know what to say. there is only 1 saban and he's taken. and the "next" saban is very much a matter of opinion. imo, there is no "next saban" out there. and most of the "damn good" ones are, or will, be well taken care of.

I've been around a long time and searching for coaches IS NEVER EASY NO MATTER THE SCHOOL. bama learned this when replacing the bear and replacing stallings, tejas learned this, etc, etc.

THE CHANCES ARE VERY GOOD that LSU will spend some time in the "wilderness" with multiple coaches before we find a keeper.

Hardly. In recent years Texas, USC, Ohio State, Miami, Auburn and other programs with great histories and reputations have been open. LSU is just another one of those, one of 20 or so marquee programs.

Well, that sounds great and all, but Florida is just not that good. I think we've all learned that the past few weeks. So it's really not a great example of "how easy it will be".

Next example cued up would be Harbaugh, but they don't really play anybody and have stumbled in their tougher games. He's made a huge difference there, I'll give him that.

Unfortunately it's not just a plug and play scenario we are looking at. There will be growing pains I believe.

Most of you are mistaken of how "coveted" the LSU job is. There isn't a main stream coach that's going to leave their situation to make a lateral move, and come coach against Saban every year.

We all like to think LSU is the #1 destination for any coach, but the reality is it's only Top 10. Fans have delusions of hiring any new coach, but we'll be in for a shock when we find out not every coach wants to come here.
