When did ESPN start having 5pm Central games?

The last few years... They have an 8:30 game also. That's why the 5:00 start. We have been the 8:30 game a few times and always seem to have to wait....

I'm glad it is at 5. I always hated the 7 night games at auburn because their fans stay the whole game and it can get real loud in there. At least most of the game with still be in daylight before it gets dark in the fourth quarter. I feel better etling will have his first start at home against miss state unlike harris the week after at auburn for his first start.

Not yet ready for primetime.
It feels like 1998 all over again.

Actually sundown is at 6:35 so it will be dark by the beginning of the half time.

Sweet glad it's not a late start.

They'll be loud at 5:00. LSU fans are the only ones who think it MUST be a night game for the fans to get energized. JHS never gets mentioned as an intimidating venue, but it's been loud every time I've gone. The big question mark is just how long that energy is directed towards cheering for their team vs. booing their coach? The AU folks are getting a bit tired of Malzhan and that stadium could turn on him quickly is things go wrong.
I'm glad it's not at 2:30 or 11:30. Selfishly, I wish kickoff was at 6:30 or 7:00 if for no other reason than I will be sitting in the east upper deck facing the sun. Though maybe not as bad as BR, it's still the south, it's still Sept. and it's still HOT!

JH is our house of horrors. i don't remember the last time we beat one of their good teams there. 08 and '12 were years they had coaches fired.

I still haven't gotten over that thrashing they put on us last time. Hope he don't repeat that with Etling

At least we are kind enough to return the favor and treat them the same in TS. Despite taking a few close games in their down years ('08 & '12, as noted earlier), this series has been a VERY strong lean to the home team for some time now.

Part of that had to do with a horrible LSU defense at that point in 2014 season. Plus, there are many differences between starting the back up QB in 2014 vs. this season.
In 2014 Harris was an unprepared true freshman making his first start on the road against the defending SEC champs. Etling, on the other hand, is a 4th year junior with major conf. starting experience (Big 10) who would be going up against a team with 1 (maybe 2) losses. Also, Malzahn could do no wrong at that point in 2014. Now, he might be 2nd only to Les in lack of job security.
Bottom line. While I'm not quite ready to star engraving Etling's name on the Heisman trophy, I'd feel much more comfortable with starting him vs. the scenario Harris walked into in 2014

what game will be on right before? It's almost certain to be a 4 OT high scoring game.

ESPN will have Georgia @ Ole Miss at 11AM. We're at 5PM, and nothing is scheduled in between. Not sure what's up with that.

2:30 will probably be Tennessee vs Florida with an outside chance of Arkansas vs A&M. CBS usually plays wait and see.

CBS has already announced Florida at Tennessee for 2:30.
Arkansas v. A&M is prime time (8PM) on ESPN, after ours.

I really like the 5pm start.
Keep that stadium from the dark. They get loud.
2nd loudest SEC stadium I've been in.
