LSU virtual reality training room.

IDK were I heard or read this but it is my understanding that the LSU virtual reality room became available for JD after the FSU game and before the Grambling game. Is this accurate?
Looking back JD was expected to have an All American performance versus Grambling. The talent disparity between LSU and Grambling was too great for Grambling to compete, but his performance carried into the next game and next game.
Something change with Daniels.
IMO what changed was his recognition of defenses with his pre-snap reads. JD wasn't holding on to the ball like he did last season. He had become more decisive with his throws. The mental part of his game improved drastically after week one.
Was the virtual reality room the tool that Daniels needed to take that next step?
If QBs have the ability to recognize defenses pre-snap at the college level the offense will have a huge advantage over the defense. Additionally if the QB checks out of a play upon pre-snap recognition it forces him to execute leadership and thus the respect of his teammates.
Furthermore, looking back Joe Burrow had the same ability. The ability to recognize defenses pre-snap and audible if needed or execute a play into the defense's weakness.
IMO the ability for a college QB to recognize defenses and adjust is a MASSIVE advantage at the college level. At the college level if an QB checks out of a play based on the QB's pre-snap read 9 time out of 10 the defense is not reacting to the audible call. At the NFL level it's different. Defenses will react to QB audible most of the time and they constantly play cat and mouse games with each other. At the college level teams just do not have that much time during the week to practice pre-snap adjustments like the pros so if you have a QB at the college level that can read defenses pre-snap, that is huge advantage.
If the virtual reality room tool exist for LSU QBs I really hope Nuss is using this training tool going into the bowl game.

I’d rather have VR Vicki Vallencourt than for the football.
It’s the devil.
Seriously, I’m sure VR can be effective for QB development.

The video that Jacques Doucet showed Daniels using an Oculus or something similar, not the VR room. Maybe it’s a combination of both.

I’ve seen Ole Miss’…I thought it was more of a lineman tool. It’s definitely not a field wide setup is why I thought that.

Off the Bench did a small segment on it. T-Bob said they started it after the Miss St game. What they were describing was pretty cool, worth a listen. The two guys who have to tech are both German. They have all the SEC stadiums programmed, where the play clock is, layouts of the field, where the sun will hit, etc

Just makes you wonder why it wasn’t used earlier if it was available.

It's probably takes a lot of time, man hours and video editing expertise in coordination with Denbrock to put together the VR video. Maybe that process is streamlined from week to week now.

LSU has always been one of the first to try out new cool shite for the football team, there's some really cool stuff out there

They've had this room since before BK was LSU's coach. I don't know the year, but I remember Grant Delpit talking about it for the defense.

Yeah.. I believe the “VR Room” is a just a walkthrough room that has been repurposed, but the VR part is just a headset. I think Aranda initially wanted it for defensive walkthroughs in the last big renovation.

Yea I remember stories about our VR room from years ago. Don’t think it’s a new thing

I've seen that room on a football ops tour It's Pretty cool-
Room is the size of 2 racketball courts w/ turf & hash marks for about 15-20 yards w 4 projectors from the ceiling
When LSU played Wisconsin in Green Bay 2016 LSU saw that the Packers had one...

It just wasn’t a thing until the week of MSU. It was brought up by Jack Marucci and Jayden Daniel’s went check it out. Yes this isn’t something that’s going to now go away. It helped tremendously for Jayden and I imagine it would for all of them. I’m sure the coaches have likely made this part of weekly preparation now. I’d do this for every single position as well! This could especially help the RB’s and LB’s. But I would imagine that it could help speed things up for all of them.
This technology absolutely helped Jayden Daniels with his read/react time and release speed. They can make the VR 2X or 10X faster than the actual game so when the game comes, it feels slower for them not faster. You still have to work on all this stuff with your teammates at the same time.
So you need to have all this down with your teammates who will be starting with you on a weekly basis first. Then you can work with this technology to help you on game day. It’s not a magic trick, you still have to put in the work and hours throughout the offseason and during the season. But if you do that and you have the time to work with the VR then it’s absolutely an advantage for you.
