While Ralston Turner has done well in his transfer to N C State, on balance LSU has historically done well with transfers. and Those leaving the program have not found greener pastures while LSU has benefitted to a far greater extent Other than Turner , the only transfers to have done reasonably well have been Anthony Hickey, Magnum Rolle, Fess Irvin and a PG who transferred to I believe GA Southern about 15 years ago.

Among successful transfers in to LSU who previously played at a Division One school:

Dwayne Spencer
Nelson Isley
Brian Beshara
Terry Martin
Deuce Ford
Al Green
Charles Carmouche
Keith Hornsby
Josh Gray
Justin Hamilton
Mike Hansen
Lamont Roland
Glenn Hansen

He had more opportunity to play there. He could not break in with Bass, Baby, Lloreda, Tyrus, Lazare Rolle etc.

Still a hero for shot to beat BAMA.

Bo Spencer did pretty well for Nebraska.

And how the hell has Gray been successful? I'm not trying to bash him, but...

Yeah, I overlooked Bo. Guess he and Gray kind of neutralize each other. Gray has had his good moments, just been a year of adjustment for him. If he stays next year I don't see him starting but he could be a valuable asset in a reserve role for 15 to 20 minutes. He reminds me of Jamerio Pargo who used to back up CP3 at with theHornest.

I thought he was at LSU for all 4 years….after digging around the internet, turns out that he transferred here from George Washington U…..I had no idea!

Side note….Woodside's son Bernard Jr. walked on at Ga Tech this year, but didn't play.

Had a big steal at the end of a game to seal a win over Alabama. What did he do post LSU with his new team?

Marcus Thornton is probably the best transfer into LSU of all time in basketball, for you to leave him out..

Who cares if he wasn't at a D1 prior?

:smh:

The thrust of the post was to compare players who left Division 1 programs and thrived at LSU or left and went elsewhere. Generally players leave because they believe the grass is greener elsewhere and that has proven true more often for incoming players to LSU than those who leave. JUCO to D! is just a progressive career step. I will cover JUCO in my next illustrative post.
