The Baton Rouge native and 2005 graduate of LSU helped lead the Tigers to three consecutive Final Four appearances and was named both National Player of the Year and SEC Player of the Year twice. She’s also a two-time recipient of the Wooden Award and the Honda Award – the two most prestigious honors in women’s college basketball.

On the world’s stage, Augustus won three gold medals (2008, 2012, 2016) as a member of the United States Olympic Team.

No idea other than they want a statue of Pistol before any others are even considered

Seimone deserves it. One of the Legendary Tigers

Won’t be a statue of Pistol. You have to have graduated from LSU to have a statue.

You do not need an LSU degree for an arena to bear your name, so Pete Maravich has been honored quite nicely.

What jackass came up with that rule and why can’t an exception be made for Pete MF Maravich?!?!

Not sure but its pretty common across a lot of schools requiring a degree to be eligible for a statue.

Its an acknowledgment of their accomplishments as an athlete and as a student to the University. But every school is different in terms of the criteria for being able to get one.

Well deserved. Even after all these years, she’s continued to be a great ambassador for LSU.

Because it’s a statue of a woman. Therefore it’s automatically “woke.”

I thought that rule applied to an athlete's number being retired? Never heard of any rule re a statute, mea culpa if wrong.

As I have said on countless occasions, statues should be reserved only for those who have gone to The Great Beyond, irrespective of their athletic notoriety. Deal with it.
