Saw this on Dandy Don:

17th SEC regular season championship and fourth in coach Paul Mainieri’s 11-year tenure

• Sixth SEC tournament title in the last 10 years

• NCAA record sixth straight national super-seed

• 26th NCAA appearance in the past 29 seasons and 24th time to host a regional in the past 28 seasons

• 18th College World Series appearance in the past 32 seasons and third in past five years

• Tied school record for second most single-season CWS wins with four (first is the 2009 team with five)

• 25-3 run leading up to the CWS Championship Finals

• SEC record 13th 50-win season

It's good no matter what you put it on. Is it the 90's? no but the 90's was one of the greatest runs in the history of the sport.

There are a lot of schools and a lot of coaches who would like that on their resume' .

All the credit CPM gets from these guys.
And begrudgingly at that, no doubt.

And at least 75% of this is because he wears LSU across his chest. I don't know when you people are going to realize our tradition, resources, facilities, being in the SEC, and on and on are a significant factor in these numbers.

There are dozens of coaches out there that could put up these numbers at LSU. And, when coaching DOES matter, and the DETAILS DO matter, and the coaching decisions DO matter, more often than not PM shows is not a top tier guy.

If that was true, smoke would have 3 championships by now. It's sad people like you actually believe that.

same logic used w Miles.... when he did not pay attention to the basics

Frankly, they get paychecks each year,
I expect them to perform each year.

not dogging on him, very nice record and better than most
.. it is just that one is only as good as his last performance.
..... he did well this year, now if PM can see the obvious and fix it ??? he may do better next.

OMAHA will not be a HR baseball field next year either.

If your bar to earning a paycheck is winning a national title, then will never be happy and quite frankly makes me wonder why you follow sports at all. Mainieri has earned a national seed 6 straight years. he has made it to Omaha 3 of 5 years. He just was in the national title series. I understand being frustrated at finishing runner up but if you think Mainieri hasn;t produced, then you're blissfully ignorant of reality.

With Mark Marquess retiring at Stanford this season, there is exactly one current coach in college baseball with multiple national titles on his resume, and that is Pat Casey at Oregon State, and it's been over 10 years now since he won one, and Mainieri just took 2/3 from him last week. The last 5 national champs have all been first time winners of the CWS. It's just not the same game it used to be, so people need to set realistic expectations and stop acting like entitled children.

And for all the Les Miles comparisons that have become a hot take again, I hope those of you making them realize how idiotic you sound.

rbdallas - Here's what you don't seem to understand as a lot of people on here are just like you. Every year is different with new players on your team and on other teams. Let's say PM CAN see the obvious and fix it yet his team ties for the SEC regular season title, wins the SEC tourney and loses in the CWS again. So what? Maybe next years team is better than this years team but ran into a hot team like Coastal Carolina did to LSU last year. It takes a good team, a lucky team to get the close calls to win it all. Only 1 team finishes first. PM is doing an awesome job in my opinion. For others like yourself, I actually feel sorry for because yall will rarely enjoy the ride unless PM wins it all AGAIN.

People like that can't even enjoy the ride even if it results in a national title because there will be some bumps in the road along the way. The only way they'll ever be satisfied is if we have a run like Oregon State did in the regular season and then destroy every team in Omaha.

But we did lose in the championship game. Would you have liked to have been Alabama losing to Clemson last year or us playing is a bowl game only.

Answer is you cannot win championship games unless your are in the game.

We have some tremendous freshmen and the experience will carry on and hopefully most will stay all 4 years and try again in Omaha
