That's one of the weirdest stats I have ever read. This stat was in the Advocate paper this today.

Yeah, because apparently this box will stop Fournette. You know, like all the other ones

What's crazy is our yards per rush would rank in the top 40 nationally among yards per pass.

Doesn't matter where the explosive plays come from, as long as you're making them.

Miles has lost all control over this team.

It's a huge deal because running the ball is such a low risk play.

Absolutely, there are so many added benefits to running the ball at such an explosive rate. Turnover margin, TOP, cumulative body blow effect on the defense, etc.

It's almost as if ... and I know this is hard for some to accept ... it's almost as if the Les brand of football is damn effective when it's humming at optimal levels.

So what you are saying is that LSU is the only D1 school that still plays grown man football.

Thank goodness our coaches "brand of football" works when you have the best RB in the nation playing for LSU

1. #tBrand should be credited for helping attract said RB to LSU in the first place.

2. #tBrand has been pretty damn effective for a decade strong prior to Buga arriving, and it will remain effective after he departs

... or do you think LSU will just stop attracting preemo RB talent somehow?

When this style of offense is clicking it humilates opponents. Five yard body blow after body blow leads to the inevetiable knockout punch. I love watching the opposing D slowly get weaker and weaker from the blows as the game goes on. This is football at its purest form.

The ypc before contact is over 5, credit the big uglies up front. some of those holes you could march the band through.

I got into some stats the other day as well.
Since 2003 we only have 1 season (2004) with more than 2 losses when the difference between our yards/rush vs our opponents yards/rush was +1.6 or greater.
This year.. it's 3.83!!!!
For comparison..
2011 was 2.06
2003 was 2.1
2007 was 1.7

The body blows are evident in the big plays that have occurred soon the ground, particularly in the second half of games.

I believe Fournette had a long run called back against Mississippi State, but even then he had a run of 26 yards.

Since then, he's had a long of at least 62 yards in every game. Obviously he is great, but LSU's offense is legitimately fun to watch in general. They are always a threat to break off a big play from anywhere on the field.

You want to be able to pass when needed, but running the ball down the opponent's throat takes their heart away and wins games in the 4th when the D wears down.

The scary thing is that after last week's game I thing D coordinator's are thinking, "Crap, when LF takes a seat we still have Williams and Guice to deal with!"

Doesn't seem like that would be right with teams like Navy and GT being primarily rushing teams as well

Fournette's break out game was against Florida..

Then LSU gets Western Kentucky, will still run a lot vs alabama and arkansas, and still has near last run D in sec in a&m later..

Why not for long?

It is incorrect, but not because of Navy or GT.

LSU is one of only 3 FBS schools that average more yards per rush (7.19) than yards per passing attempt (6.78). The other two are Georgia Southern (6.81 per rush, 5.03 per pass) and Maryland (5.28 per rush, 5.22 per pass).

Many teams would be satisfied with that as their total average per rush - amazing that LSU has that much MORE than the opponents' yds per rush.

Case in point: gators (as well as the Saints) are averaging 3.7 yds per rush. uf stats Saints stats
