A bit astonishing to read this.

How badly we must have trailed this series in the pre Skip Bertman era and later closed the gap somewhat?

So you’d trade our legacy in baseball for theirs? Amazing the people willing to post to the world they have a 80 IQ!

As useless a stat as USC winning 5 straight CWS in the 70's or Magadan hitting .525 in '83, when NO ONE with a live arm played college ball. What Crews is doing this year is truly unprecedented.

I will tell you this, over on the secR, the Bama fans cared about baseball until about Thursday of last week.

Funny.

Skip Bertman killed their program. They were coming hard and were really good in the late 90s.

Other than 99 and the void created the year after Skip retired, check out their historical results since we drubbed them in Omaha.

Football is Alabama's thing.
Basketball is Kentucky's thing.
Baseball is our thing.
That's the way it has always been. And that's the way it's always going to be!

What he means is the lack of parity in the 70s. USC won 7 national championships from 68-78. Back then there were maybe 6 teams vying for it every year. Mostly Pac-10 teams. What LSU did in the 90s is far more impressive than what USC did in the 70s.

Those titles were legit. You started seeing big time arms playing college ball in the late 80's--Swindell and Clemens at Texas, Big Ben, Dreifort at Wichita State, Mussina and later Kyle Peterson at Stanford. What we did in the 90's was no joke.

meh, you play the cards you're dealt, we were dominant in the 90s, I can't stand USC but you can't take anything away from their dominance in the 70s

I was a little young to remember more clearly, but weren’t they successful against LSU during the regular season even during Skip’s time?

Sure they were decent, but nobody was successful against us. Bama did kick the shite out of us in the SEC Tourney Championship game in 97 though.
